I need a temp cage

I spoke to the lady at the animal rescue about the little piggy I'll be picking up in the next couple days, and while they couldn't properly age the piggy, they were guessing by size that it is very young.

I am of course going to get the piggy a friend, but I was told it may be sick, so I want to get that taken care of first. Also, we are still unsure of the sex.

Anyways, I was told that the piggy is 'deathly afraid' of large spaces, and had what the lady believes to be a seizure the last time it was placed somewhere out of it's cage. I already have a C&C cage that my bf built, but I am starting to think I need a smaller temp cage.

Any advice?

If the woman doesn't know what she is talking about, which it pretty much sounds to me like she's clueless. Then what she believes to be a siezure, could very well have been a popcorn, which looks like a fit first time you see it. Might I add my piggies do this when they are out :). Pigs do it when they are happy.

Put lots of hides in your current cage, pigs don't like open spaces :).

When you getting him/her?

Saturday or Sunday. I thought of that as well, but I think the piggy actually fell on it's side.

I have a vet appointment for next week as I want to make sure everything is fine. Because you're right, I don't think they know what they are talking about, but still, it's better to be safe than sorry. If I didn't take him, he'd be PTS.

I know the situation from your other thread, I would urge you to take him to a very piggy Savy vet, but surely if the rescue believed him to be ill they would get him checked before rehoming him.

They are a very small local rescue, which actually does not regularly house small animals. I believe the piggy was checked out by someone, but all I was told was it was 'in rough shape'. I have made an appointment with a vet that specializes in small animals, I am very lucky there are a number of specialty vets in my area.

Whereabouts are you, anyway?

It would be very helpful if you could state your rough area in your personal details, please.

You are doing the right thing by having the piggy check out by a savvy vet. A bad case of mites can cause fitting, for instance.
