Well as i have gotten on so well with the fleece change over i have ordered four inco pads for their cage.

I got them off amazon and i hope that they arrive soon, but it did say that estimate delivery would be 21 - 23 Jan. :(

Anyone else changed over to fleece and inco pads recenlty?

:(|)

After hearing how well the inco pads work, I am going to save up to switch over to them from towels. Towels are so heavy and the washing machine is coping less and less well with them. I can't help wondering if the pads would work better for my allergy pigs too...the towels in high-pee areas do smell under the fleece; I can't smell them while the fleece is down, but maybe it does bother the pigs more than I thought.

Definitely saving up for the pads anyhow.

I am glad the fleece is working so well for you, Joey and Gizmo!

What kind of inco pads are you using? I saw some washable seat pads on amazon and thought these might be quite good... Have not switched to fleece yet but after reading what people have been saying I am going to buy next time I am in tesco. Is it just the cheap fleece throws you use? And do you cut them up as I imagine a whole one will be quite big and bulky

They are quite expensive but I'm sure that they will last ages and they should be better than towels. It says you can was them over 200 times.

I have used puppy pads for now as i didnt fancy washing towels. The puppy pads are working well too but they would be expensive in the long run.

Lovelygirl - How often do you wash the inco pads? Alot of people have said 3 days, another said a week.

These are the ones that are very popular on here and ive ordered them too. [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Washable-Absorbent-Bed-90cms-Wings/dp/B000MES1W8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1263465887&sr=8-1[/ame]

I bought some fleece from B&M bargains for £1.99 and i just fold it in half and place it in the cage, i use puppy pads underneath at the moment. The pigs love it.

Do they seem to have a bit of a "life" limit on them? Just thinking, 200 washes will only be just over a year, year and a half maybe, with 2x weekly washing...

Ive not used them yet but I'm sure someone who has is able to answer your questions, but I'm guessing that they should last a while as they seem to be of a good quality what others have said anyway.

:)

I looked at the ones Joey and Gizmo recommended on Amazon and the reveiwer said she washes them once a week

I'm glad you are liking the fleece . I bought those pads for under Roger's fleece and to be honest it's been a week I've changed his cage (he's on his own at the mo) but they didn't show any signs of needing changing.

I've used newspaper and towels in the past with the fleece but I'm a lot more impressed with these. I have four two in the cage two spare.

I ordered mine at the weekend and they arrived tuesday they are very fast with delivery usually.

Also still debating with myself whether incopads or homemade with zorb is the way to go... 200 washes would last years! If you had two sets and changed once a week (like I do) it would be around 30 washes a year because the sets would be washed on alternating weeks.

I change once a every 6 days but that is because I work on a 3day/6day cycle!

The 200 washes refers to the the maximum absorbency of a the pad, they are designed to soak up the amount of urine a human body excrets in one go! as far as guinea pigs are concerned they excret much less hence the absorbency required is much less so as long as you look after them ie no softener (you can use bleach) they should last years!

Much cheaper than puppy pads in the long run and no landfill waste!

I have washed some after 3 days and others after 6 depending on how much they have wee'd in that area.

Even after 6 days they still don't smell, it's very good.

The reason I washed after 3 is one area felt wet - so i'm guessing they wee'd alot in that spot as the rest of it didn't even look used.

They dry quite quickly too.

Which ones are you buying off Amazon? Ive got puppy pads for now but would like somewthing more eco friendly!
