I woke up this morning with the most horrendous cold you can imagine. My eyes hurt, my ears hurt, my head hurts and my nose feels like its stuffed full. I had an olbas oil bath but that did nothing. I'm keeping away from the piggies so not to pass it on and its driving me nuts, they keep wheeking for me :'(

Any tips to get rid of it or ease it at least?

Try taking echinacea and vitamin C with zinc, this will boost your immune system. I also take raw garlic and organic honey, you smell awful but this is great if you are prone to secondary infections such as bronchitis, throat infection or sinusitis.

If you feel as though you have a temp, paracetamol as directed will help to lower it and of course ease aches and pains. The usual, lot's of warm drinks, avoid dairy products as these can make stuffy nose, nasal secretions and chest congestion worse.

Plenty of rest, get some fresh air a few times a day, even just for a few minutes wrapped up at the back door :)

Thanks for the tips Barbara, I didn't know that about dairy stuff, tea and choc is out for me then ::)

i know the cold you mean! ive had it since saturday. i feel alot better today and i think its because i went back to bed yesterday and slept from 11am til 2pm :)
there is a nasty flu bug going around too so maybe youve got that?
i recommend plenty of sleep for a quick recovery! ;)

Stuffy nose = Otrivine nasal spray

Gets rid of it in minutes and lasts for hours. The minute I get a cold I run out to get some

Avoiding dairy is a great tip as well

hate to tell you this but i've had this cold for eight weeks, had the bad tum, sore throat, bad cough, headaches out of this world and just getting over the earache, which has caused dizzy spells and sickness :D

now i've cheered you up ;D not.

just make sure you eat well, keep up your strength, or is that just my excuse to eat more 8)

Airwaves chewing gum is really good too - sounds mad but the chewing action helps to unblock sinuses.

For me, a curry and mulled wine help - the warmth and spices in the wine really ease things, but obviously not a good idea if you are taking paracetamol or lemsips!

I take zinc and probiotics every day and so far have not had a cold for 2 years despite my hubby and kids having them, hope you feel better soon

I think the best you can do is stay in bed or on the sofa for a few days as a cold will take time to recover from - it can actually put a strain on the heart so no exercising or anything!
I have tried to go into work in the past but i always end up feeling worse and having to stay off - plenty of fluids and rest!
(I don't like taking medecines but sometimes you can't stay in bed and have to get out and about - Sudofed can help dry the cold up and ease the headaches..)

I feel 10 times worse this morning. I can barely hear I dunno whether to bother the Dr or put up with it for a bit longer :-\

Try grated fresh Ginger with boiled water suger, it realld dose work

I feel a bit better today thank goodness. I bought some sudafed stuff and it seems to be working

I'm still a bit bunged up and using tissues like they are going out of fashion but I hope this is the end of it now
