Hi I’m looking for advice. One of my boars has made some funny noises recently. I took him out of his hutch for a quick cuddle for a couple of minutes and he seemed to either sniff loudly/almost breath faster than normal- does this sound like he is hyperventilating? I have only noticed this on two occasions when I held him. He looks healthy and when I have observed him in his cage he has been fine.
ive been trying to hold them for a few minutes each day and this particular boar seems a bit nervy, although he quite often comes to the cage to see me and will take food from me.
I’m really just wondering if his breathing sounds like a nervous behaviour or whether it could be a respiratory issue
