Hi again,
Some may know that i have an adorable very laid back 11 month old, Cinnamon; we had her as a lone piggie for a while because we got her with a URI; so about 3 weeks ago we brought home 8 week old Pepper; well, Pepper is very hyper and to me seems to "cry" a lot although she seems perfectly healthy; eating, runnning around; I had them both out today for floor time and Pepper is always very skittish jumps and runs at every litlte sound or movement so she isn't into lap time at all; still seems afraid but will take peppers from me when i offer them. Catching her to remove her from the cage is very difficult and i don't want to agitate her; I think she very much wants to cuddle with Cinnamon, who she follows around nudging and sometimes challenging but Cinnamon is a bit more of a loner LOL! They seem to have opposite personalities; so I feel bad for both of them! I bought Pepper so Cinnamon wouldn't be lonely but now i'm afraid Pepper is! and sometimes I think Cinnamon wishes she had her turf to herself because Pepper is more aggressive, head in the air a lot of the time and will pull the Peppers from Cinnamon's mouth! who doesn't really go back at her at all. Pepper was in a cage with a lot of other larger guinea pigs so maybe she's used to having to work for what she wanted! Anyway, a lot of info I know, but just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for soothing little Pepper...or is that a silly question? do you think it's because she's so young and little? and do you think i did the right thing bringing in a "friend" for Cinnamon?

From the sounds of it, I don't think you could soothe her if you tried! Don't worry, it is perfectly normal for piggies to be hyper, especially young ones. Is Pepper an Abyssinian? Usually Abyssinians are a more hyper breed. My laid-back Bacon was about a year old when we got hyper, skittish, 1-month-old Eggs. :) It will slow down with age, but until then try to give Pepper lots of cuddles. Cinnamon will eventually come around, it took Bacon a while to cuddle with Eggs, and even 6 months later it is only occasional.
Also, even Bacon struggles a lot when I try to get him out of his cage!

Thank you! I'm embarrassed to say I'm not 100% sure what Pepper is! Cinnamon (in my pic) seems to look very much like a Peruvian long haired guinea pig....I just keep cutting her hair!! otherwise it grows long and straight, drags on the floor and covers her eyes! however, her fur looked like Peppers when she was younger, although Peppers may be just a bit more fuzzy! maybe it will be clearer to me (i'm far from an expert) as she gets older; Cinnamon is such a cuddler so i'm used to that! she will lay in my lap or on my chest for hours whereas i can't even catch Pepper and when i do she squirms LOL; or maybe Cinnamon's a Coronet? I've been trying to figure this out for a while now; i just know that her hair grows very fast and long and requires frequent cutting! As soon as i can catch Pepper I'll try those cuddles you suggested!!
