Hello,

Does any else on here have any experience of using hydrangea root tincture in order to help maintain a healthy kidney, keep stones to a minimum? I'm interested to read of it in Peter Guerney's Piggy Potions and just wondered if anyone uses and how often, what doses etc?

I live in a really hard water area and noticed some gritty white particles in one of my piggies' urine so would like to prevent stones if possible! I'm already switching to Cavy Cuisine and also buying bottled water.. Any other thoughts welcome!

Thanks

Not sure on the answers sorry. I wouldnt have thought bottled water would have made much difference. If anything i would have thought it had more calcium in? Not sure. What are you feeding your piggies with regards to veg? Some veg is high in calcium and need to be fed in moderation such as spinach or kale.

Someone else may be able to help better than i.

x.

Thanks!

I try to stick to a calcium careful diet. I use the post that Laura provided a while back with dietary guidance. I have recently cut back on curl kale. I was taking my RHA course with Vedra in Feb and she mentioned that chicory is quite bad for them calcium-wise so I've cut back on that. Sometimes it feels like it's quite tricky to get the diet of piggy correct!

I'm going to test the calcium in the bottled water to check. My sister's offered to use her aquarium water testing kit which will test calcium! When I was selecting them in Sainsburys I did notice that there was a huge variety of calcium levels and you're right, some of them are quite high.
