With hutches and runs, could you keep them on ones that is on grass but then also have a sheltered hut at the end when they dont want to go outside or is it best to have two: one sheltered and then one on the grass?

Do you mean keep them on grass permanently? I’m not the about that as if it rains or is damp/wet, they shouldn’t be on there. You have to make sure the hutch is the correct size (especially with boars). You could buy a run separately for grass time, and put in some boxes for them to hide in.

PS sorry if I’ve misunderstood your question. I’ve yet to sleep after a long shift at work.

Plus if you leave a hutch without a bottom directly on the grass, the wood will quickly become permanently wet and start to rot, and the grass underneath will become a total mess. Plus when the ground is damp in the Winter the guinea pigs won't use the bottom part anyway, so their space will be seriously reduced.
It is far better to have a proper hutch with a floor that is raised off the ground, and attach a metal run to it if you want to have it permanently on the grass.

This photo is our “run” for Bill and Ted. They use it in warmer weather, summer, spring and autumn when it’s pleasant, they are always brought inside overnight, we also have a rain cover for the run and also for the “Bunny Ark”. They are both used solely for daytime use. I would not leave them overnight in either, the bunny ark is a lovely shelter if it rains but is very short on space because of the design, far better to keep them in a proper hutch if you plan to keep them outside D96D141E-E34D-4946-A949-6B1962529168.webpand get a run and little shelter if you want them to enjoy the lawn x

Forgot to mention, these type of runs need moving every few days or thr grass gets worn down and the piggies have nothing to chew x

You could definitely get a hutch and attach a run to it, then open the door if it's a nice day so they can go in and out as they please, but shut them in at night and on colder or rainy and windy days. My piggies had this for some time and they loved it. You will need a hutch cover though, not just for the piggies but also because the hutch will need replacing in less than a year without it. It would also be worth having somewhere else they can go on cold winter nights, or an insulated cover and snugglesafes. I recommend the chartwell hutches, you can get from home and roost or Amazon, and they have rain covers, insulating covers and runs that you can attach to the hutch. Will just need some chicken wire to put under the hutch so they can't escape :)
