Hiya,

A few total noob questions now hope you dont mind. Our piggies live in a hutch outside, at the moment the flooring is newspaper and shavings but i'm looking at changing it. I've read on here about ppl using lino for the bottom of the cage, do you use anything else as flooring? My piggies are not litter trained so am worried about the cage floor getting soaked as they wee sooo much lol.

They also have their hay in a hay net and a fleecy bed in their sleeping part.

Just looking for some ideas really on what is best and people views on using lino.

Thanks
Vikki xx

I think if they're not littertrained then you'd have to put something on it, hay or shavings or something. :)

I'm kinda thinking of trying to litter train mine and have lino down on it's own for the rest of the cage, but I'm not sure, cos it might be slippery or something . . .

Thanks for the reply. I was also reading up about fleece, might give that ago before the lino, at least its not going to be slippy x

One of my hutches has lino on the bottom, but I still cover it with newspaper, shavings and hay. xx

I use lino in my shed but they have newspaper and Aubiose over the top. The lino is just for easy sweeping out and to stop the chill coming up through the floor.

I have lino on the bottom of mine ,then I use megazorb with hay on top. Megazorb was worth the money I have had the large bag for weeks and there is still quite a lot in it.

I have lino on the floor of our hutch, but just to make it easier to clean :)

I use newspaper with lots of hay on top for their bedding, with a handful of carefresh in their toilet corners and under the waterbottle to help soak up and fluid.

I briefly tried shavings on the upper level of the hutch, but found it made a right mess and quickly went back to hay
