We have just obtained a great "chicken coop with small outdoor run" which I'm sure our two piggies will love , unfortunately it needs some renovation :-( . The roof requires refelting ( not a problem ) and the wood could do with a good clean and retreated , so what do I clean and disinfect with ? I come from a farming background where Jeyes fluid was widly used to clean out everything but I'm sure that will be too strong to clean out a hutch ! Then what wood treatment is recommended to retreat external wood ?
All advice gratefully received :-)
Thanks x

I would consider buying some F10 disinfectant, initially sounds expensive but you dilute as per instructions and lasts for ages :)
I'd avoid Jeyes fluid at all costs and use only a small pet friendly product.
What about painting the coop ? Wilkinsons do pet friendly paint for exterior/interiors and I've heard of people adding a bit of cooking oil to keep it waterproof :)
Love renovations so hope you find what you are looking for and the piggies enjoy.

Currently power hosing and re roofing , hoping it stays dry tonight to give it a coat of paint - found some pet friendly stuff in the shed :-) . Am declining the use of Cath Kidston curtains for the windows though !
