hiya, i have a 3 level 6 foot 6 hutch, i got my other half to put a ramp in, to join 2 levels, so my girls have 13 foot of space, ive tried everything i can think of to get them to use it, with no success, anyone have any ideas?, already tried, fruit on the ramp, veg, grass, hay, dandelion leaves, putting food upstairs, & girls downstairs, willing to try anything, thanks, lisa & the piggies.:{

Hi I am new to piggies this week but whilst researching them I did see a site somewhere that suggested using a cozy tunnel to put on the ramp. I do not know if this would work or how you would do it but you never know :) hope this helps

when I got a new cage with a different type of ramp I started by helping them down, they soon got the idea and now bomb up and down the ramps. if the wood is bare with no covering for traction they can be a little scared of it.

good luck and I am sure they will get the idea soon

Mine started using the big ramps in their cage once I had put carpet on them. I glued sandpaper on to the smaller ramps. I was able to take the carpet off once they had become used to them.

I had 4 piggies in a v large 2 tier hutch and only one would use the ramp in the end I took out the ramp sealed off the entrance to the upper level and made two seperate floors.

Does the ramp have a side on it? Some piggies are nervous of the drop so a side on the ramp might help, or as Hannah said a secured tunnel.

Useful thread, as I am having probs with our 2 storey hutch. Both piggies are on the bottom floor and quite happy too, but when I popped them on the top floor for the first time, they just stayed continually in the pre built in enclosure, and only ventured out for food. The seemed to stretch their bodies really long when they saw the drop to the lower floor. Quite funny to watch, but they obviously were a little unsure, so I put them on the bottom floor instead.

I just think, what a waste in buying this 2 storey hutch, so am reading all your opinions and tips for enouraging them to use the upper tier. :)
