Hutch Painting?

I was thinking that when I purchase a hutch, I might paint the exterior a nice colour? I was wondering if this would be safe for the piggies? (note: I would do this at least a month before I got them, and only on the exterior of the hutch, not the interior).
If it isn't, is there any pet safe paint I can use which would look nice and is relatively inexpensive?
Also any ideas on colour ideas would be great too c:

I don't see how it would hurt if it is only on the outside but if you are worried that they might chew it or something then get pet safe. Maybe a nice mint green or a blue?

I love the cuprinol garden shades paint. It is water based and pet safe. I have used on rabbit huthes and runs and on hamster houses shelves and ramps.

Seagrass is a lovely pale ble green colour.
