so i cant get hold on any c&c cages here in gibraltar... so ive decided on a hutch . and where my dad works there are lots of Carpenter's his the store man where all the wood and all the things i need for my hutch goes! :D I hAVE 2 Plans

Plan (A) ASK DADDY really nicely if he could ask the carpenters to build me one with the plan I'm making he just has to give him all the supplys :D

Plan (b) daddy gives me all the supplys and i go to Grampa and well he never says noo and he used to be a carpenter and has nothing to do all day bored so I'm 99.9% SURE his not saying noo ... especially if i plan it all nicely out with measurements ect

sooo can you very nice people of this forum help me out a lilllllttleee pretty please and tell me what do you think a good size of length and width and hight is a hutch for my two female guinea mmmm if its big enough i can get around 5 in there (muahahaha) (evil lough my OH isnt reading this part (muahahaa) I'm planed it to be 2 floored with the little stairs to go upstairs :)

ooohh one more question do you recommend 2 doors on each level ? as in gibraltar there isnt that much of cold and they will be quiet hot in the summer if there isnt enough air going through they will be in my big balcony inside the house which has BIG windows Both sides and enough air goes through :)

if you got to this part well thank you for taking you time in reading this :D I'm reallyyyy excited now lets have piggies toes crossed he will say YES :)

Exciteddd!

Wohoooo Happy News

Grampa said yes Nowwww only ask my dad for the matterials I'm sure he will say yes too!

:D :D :D

How exciting for you!

If it's being made, maybe something like this would be great for them:
http://www.rehutches.com/single-rabbit-hutch-log-lap.php

It will need to be off the ground, have small hole mesh at the window, & two doors or if he is feeling clever a lid that opens up. The roof needs felting for weather protection (unless it never rains there you lucky thing lol)

Go as big as you can, as space allows but I would definitely be thinking a 5foot by 2 foot or 6foot by 2 foot would be fantastic & the piggies will really appreciate it! Good luck! :))

it does rain here not much thou but they are going in a half open closed balcony where they are going to be they arent going to get wind or rain :)

and for length i was thinking 2metres by 80cm with two floors anyway in the drawing i have made i put underneath a drawer to store away piggies stuff and i have put the whole thing off the floor so it would be easy for me to clean under :) one more question what do you recommend for the bedding ?

what do other people use in the hutch ? fleece ? newspaper ? some plastic stuff so the wee doesnt get to the wood underneath everything ?

Well I used to use newspaper followed by soft chop straw (finer than the normal stuff which is a piggy no-no) then lots of hay. I don't know if you have thought of fleece as you are keeping them outside but I have started to use fleece with my new babies & they love it so I think I may be converted rolleyes

Depends whether you are allowed or have access to use a washing machine mine need doing just twice a week & they dry really quick! :))
