At the moment I have two indoor guinea pigs but I fear they will soon out grow their current home.
I have ordered a Hutch with the following dimensions : Size: 86 x 147 x 52cm (33.9 x 57.8 x 20.5''

I can't bear to put them outside though so will be putting the Hutch indoors in my conservatory.

What is best to put down on the floor? It is a 2 level hutch with a run at the bottom.

Any advice would be great, thank you.

Not sure about what you could put on the floor but you will have to check the temp of the conservatory... ours gets SO hot when the sun is on it... and SO cold in winter...

We've got a roof window that we leave open in the Summer to keep the conservatory cool. We've got a heater for the winter but if it's too cold I would bring them into the living room.

.... Sounds like a reasonable plan. The plus will be they will be much safer indoors - and easier to interact with. I agree with Artcasper- your main problem will be making sure the conservatory doesn't get too hot in the summer so, keep an eye on the temperatures.

My guineas are in an insulated shed and I can cope with all weathers apart from heatwaves. Even with ventilation, it gets too hot. The remedy is simple - I relocate them!

Back to your question about flooring. Are you talking for the hutch and run - or just the run?

When I had my run inside I had a large roll of vinyl flooring offcut that I put under the run to protect the floor. Seemed to work quite well as easy to clean although you may want a few fleeces, hideys or puppy pads etc. in main areas as it obviously doesn't absorb anything!

As long as you put the effort in to control the temperature in both hot and cold extremes then I don't see a problem.

Ah that's a good idea. I had a new kitchen floor put down a few weeks ago so have plenty of Vinyl in my shed. Thank's!

Mine stay in their hutch during the day and I attach a run for a few hours in the evening. I use puppy pads with a layer of fleece on top. If they are having more than a few hours floor time, I put a cheap mattress protector as a middle layer for some extra absorption.

I have heard of people using a shower curtain for the waterproof base layer.

Brilliant plan ! Sounds all good.. our conservatory is pretty useless for heat/cold factor but good space for storage ! I use a an old lino type play mat my kids had on the floor, it's solid oak so need to protect it, topped with puppy pads then a thick fleece throw ... works a treat and they are out for 1-2 hrs a day on it..
