I'm currently waiting for my dad to have some time off work and he's going to refelt the roof.

My question is I could do with lining the hutch with something under the newpaper. Any ideas?

Also I need something to put down at the front of the hutch for when its wet and of an evening. Ideas?

Thank you

That looks fab! Do you have a local poundland? when I was in there last they had self adhesive lino tiles 6 in a box I think. (I looked at them for my hutch I don't just scan the shelves and memorize things :)))

That's great - what a transformation :)
Good old fashioned lino is great for lining the bases, we've just done two of our pens this morning, 6ftx3ft and their upstairs bedroom areas and it cost us a massive £5 :x ;)
Hutch huggers are available to buy to protect the front of them but think a lot of members use tarpaulin sheets or heavy duty blankets etc. Make sure it is in a sheltered spot from the elements too to protect them from this interchanging weather we're having...
Lots of hay, fleece blankets/vet bed helps to keep them warm overnight or invest in some snugglepads to pop in if it's a bit chilly :)
Amazon have an offer on atm with free delivery:

I get mine from here:

Your piggies will be happy in their lovely new house I'm sure :)p

Thank you. Thats very helpful. Do you need to seal the lino around the edges?

I've seen the fleece bags for the piggies, so will order them one in the autumn along with the snugglesafe. Got to try and work out getting them into the shed for the winter.

You can put a piece of wood or Perspex over the mesh to protect them from the elements... :)

Personally, we never use anything like glue etc. in the pens, I'm too paranoid with stuff even if it's pet friendly mallethead
We just cut it a couple of inches over so there's no gaps and it stops any poops dropping/wee seeping into the wooden bases - a quick spritz of pet disinfectant (F10 is very good) and a wipe keeps it clean. Usually replace ours around every 4-6 months.
I've needed a new kitchen floor for months now and the piggies get theirs done three times a year approx....:x :(|)
There are some fab cosies available for piggies - I have a bit of an obsession with them and nice bedding etc.

If you don't use lino you could try just a correx base like in a C&C cage but i reckon lino is probably a little cheaper (:

I attach a sheet of see through tarpaulin to the front of my hutch during the summer as it is too warm for them to have the wind and rain protector on as well. It works a treat :) just add a piece of heavy wood to the bottom of the tarpaulin to stop the wind from lifting it up

Sorry but I have two concerns about your hutch

The first is it looks very small, judging it by the size of the food bowl, is it the full 4ft x 2ft minimum?

Also the partition to the sleepy area is very low down. I would personally cut it so it's higher as it looks a bit of a squeeze for a piggy who likes his veg to get under there

It looks nice outside tho :)

The first photo was a close up, there are 2 guinea pig bowls in the hutch.

Its plenty big enough for my 2 piggies. I wouldn't dream of putting them in something that wasn't.

Also they don't just have a small gap to squeeze under. The partition, is joined to the back.

If fact you've rather upset me, I feel like you've judge how I care for my piggies. Who are both very happy!

I am sorry if I have upset you, but I am one of few on here who isn't afraid to say it how I see it. I was judging the size of the hutch by the size of the bowl, the average bowl is around 5" across, and you have one bowl pictured in the size of the hutch. You can fit that bowl in the 'living' bit 6 times which is approx 30" (yes I did actually measure my laptop screen), and in the sleepy bit one and a half, which is 7.5". That makes your hutch approx 38", which is too small. I don't really care how many bowls you have now, it's size I worry about.

And sorry but the gap does look really tiny, unless your pile of hay is bout 2ft high in the first pic, which I guess it isn't. Compare the pile of hay to the gap under the partition - I can promise you at least two of mine wouldn't fit under it!

I notice you haven't actually stated how big it is, if you would do so I would be happy to apologise and admit I am wrong, but from what I can see I have given you my honest opinion.

Looking at the fence behind the hutch. The panels, as a rule, are 6 foot wide. The hutch is on an angle, so it looks like it's approximately 5 foot in length, which is big enough to me. ;)

A far more accurate length estimation method, lol, thanks Highway Man!

In that case lolipop sorry for jumping to conclusions.
