I wasnt to start to build my piggies an outside hutch ready for the warm weather, we started to build one last year out of bricks and netting but then we stopped and now we think we should build it nearer to the house. But my mum had some wooden shelvings outside which she doesn't use so she said i could have it so i wanted to make it out of the wood. since i have 3 guinea pigs i will try and make it 13 sq feet but like in hutches you buy there is a room bit where they sleep, i want to do that so should i put 2 layers of wood there for insulation? and is there any tips to biuld, and it will be build into the ground so i will dig deep incase of foxes

well iv started to build it, but does it have to have a wooden roof or can i put netting and then waterproof fabric over?

Good luck with the building. :)

I would go for a wooden roof as it provides more protection from predators and heavy showers.

I'm getting my wood tomorrow :))

For my roof I am using 12mm exterior grade ply to be covered with shed standard roofing felt. I have allowed a 2" overhang on the front and will overlap the felt down the back.

I'm gona try and post pics as we go along!

awww, I want photos please? :D I'm super excited to see how it goes... I was going to do a run but now I'm not so sure... my dad destroyed his drill and...being as he's killed a strimmer by slicing through teh wire, i don't hold much hope for the drill ;)

good luck sweetie xx
