I was looking online yesterday at work to see if I could find one to fit my hutch - second hand but about a year old. I cant seem to find a single cover that will fit, all the new hutches are a whole foot skinnier than my hutch mallethead

Does anyone know where I can get one that is 54' x 27' and 49' high - these are the top of the hutch measurements, or a, I being thick and I only need to measure the actual hutch, not the roof dimensions - roof is flat slanted by the way.

At this rate I will be warming up my sewing machine and getting a pvc shower curtain and bubble wrap to make one :{

If you are stuck, when my pigs used to go out for the summer I used a big opened up single sleeping bag, covered with a tarpaulin, secured down front and sides with bricks or very thick blanket and tarpaulin. I prefererred these anyway as I felt it gave warmth instead of just waterproofing. xx

I asked my dad what he used for our rabbit hutch all them years ago (when I was still at home - many moons ago :)) ) He thinks I could make one easy enough and I was thinking of doing a warm one with duvet and waterproofing over or something but I am shamefully liking the ready made designs of the ones I look at - just none of them are wide enough malletheadmallethead

might be cheaper to make one. i covered the back of the hutch with plastic then put an old duvet over the front covered that with plastic, but they were in the shed :)

I think that will be the project over the summer - they wont need it during the summer, a light rain cover would do for warmer weather, but I can make the heavyer one for the autumn (and scour the charity shops for a single duvet) - recyle where you can you see ;)

Hi, there's a company on ebay that make made to measure covers :)
Just email your measurements and they get back to you with a price.
I was going to buy one but decided to make my own with waterproof tablecloth material with bubblewrap and an insulated tent groundsheet on the inside.
Then I moved the hutch to inside a shed so they didn't need it.

ooo thanks for that.

I dont mind making one, its just that I am worried my sewing wont be up to scratch to be weather proof.

off now to find the company......:))

I think I may have found one on ebay, its 63" x 28" x 50" its a bit longer than needed but I can always put a clip on the excess bit

I bought a rain cover for our hutch, but then made the inner 'insulated' layer out of the foil bubble wrap stuff used to wrap around boilers. I stuck it together with duck tape and it's help up pretty well. Maybe something like this over the top of a blanket would keep them snug and them just a good ol' tarpaulin over the top to keep the rain off?

I used regular bubble wrap accross the front of the hutch to try and keep some heat (and lght in) during the daytime too.

I had the same trouble to find a new hutch cover for my ferrets hutch. The old one had become brittle, and the fabric wripped. The front plastic see through bit is still great so brought a large ground sheet (like what is used for camping) and put it underneath the original hutch cover I had.

going to sound thick (nothing abnormal there then :)) ) but how waterproof is tarpaulin? I can get that in the pound shops (sound like a right cheapskate, thats just where I have seen it in abundance) but wasnt sure how waterproof it was

I have sent them a message, might have to use tarpaulin for the moment and get it the next payday (after this one in 6 weeks time)
