I was thinking of getting one to protect the hutch that i have outdoors during the winter months, as the boys only go in the hutch on warm days during the summer and then they come back indoors at tea time.
I have seen a few different ones and thought one like this maybe good as it says it keeps them in cool in the summer. http://www.petsathome.com/shop/insu...cm_re=barilliance-_-up sell-_-product details

Or is this type better just to protect it all winter from rain etc?http://www.petsathome.com/shop/wate...cm_re=barilliance-_-up sell-_-product details

Does anyone use one of these and will the hutch be ok covered all winter? As my dad seems to think that it will rot and make the hutch worse than if it wasnt covered, i think differently as its says it will prolong the life of the hutch!

I cant find one to fit the exact measurements of my hutch so does it matter if it a little too big?

:)

i have hutch huggers and hutch snuggles on both my hutches for outside and i think they are brilliant. The sunshade is a godsend as it stops the flies too.

Ive just been measuring my hutch but cant get one to fit so far! They are either too long or too wide.

I hope i can find one that fits!

:)

Speak to HolidayHutch on here ;) Our hutch is a bit of a funny size too and I have on of the 'Hutch Huggers' on order with her. We'll be getting the 'Snuggle' before the weather turns, but my main worry was keeping them dry in the rain showers

Shame about the sizing on your link, can't believe they have some a just £5! :o (Bet they're really odd sizes they can't get rid of :(|) )

That was the bad thing about upgrading my hutch. I had to get rid of my old hutch along with the covers :( Luckily, they have gone to a nice new home.

If you wish to protect your hutch over the winter (if Joey and Gizmo are not occupying the hutch) a sheet of tarpaulin will help to protect it. My girls have a 'holiday' hutch in my parents shed for when we go and visit and when the hutch isn't in use, my parents cover it up with tarpaulin :)

It is just for the winter i want to protect it, when the boys arent in it. I just worry the snow/rain will spoil it! Maybe i will try the tarpaulin first this winter and see how i go.

:)

Try a thick layer of carpet, then use tarpaulin over the top. Much cheaper than hutch snugs. You can get offcuts of carpet cheap too. The carpet helps to insulate the hutch, the tarpaulin will keep it dry. Used with plenty of hay and a hot water bottle, your piggies will be snuggly warm!
