Hello guys, my Aunt dropped my new born Guinea pig (less than a week old) she dropped it about 4 feet down onto the grass/dirt (I know you’re not meant to touch them this early but I had too move the cage) it seemed fine and she picked it right back up then about 5 minutes later when we went to put in back we seen blood on it’s neck, after using a wet paper towel to clean away the blood (their was quite a lot of blood) we seen there was a slight cut in the skin on the right side of the neck the bleeding stopped after about 5 minutes and we monitored for another 5 and the bleeding did not return, the baby is back in the cage now and is moving and running around seeming fine, but I have not yet seen it eat or drink yet but that may not be that bad as it’s so young it mainly eats from mum. I feel so bad and I’m stressing I need to know what to do. My family does not have enough money to take it to the vet sadly so any other helpful information would be very helpful.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

You absolutely must get this piggy seen by a vet. A 4 foot drop in such a young piggy could cause internal damage and the only thing you can do is get veterinary care. This is the only advice we can give in this situation. Any fall from height does require a vet check.

To add, you can and should be handling a baby piggy at this age because they require daily weight checks to be carried out, and to be sexed.

is their absolutely anything else I can do? my family is still paying back the vet from our dog and we can no way do another payment plan with one still going.

Only a vet can check an animal over properly. All you can do at home is keep up with the daily weight checks and monitor but that doesn’t replace vet care - a 4 foot drop is a long way for such a tiny and fragile baby.

I hope your baby piggy is ok. Keep a very close eye on them. If there are internal injuries then I’m afraid there would be nothing you can do at home to fix them. Good luck.

I hope you can get her to a vet soon, maybe the vet would let you add on the cost of her visit to your current payment plan for your dog? It wouldn't definitely be worth asking them.
Best of luck, I hope she's OK 🤞❤️
