Hurt Eye

hi. today, i put my baby guinea pig (Recees) in a pen with his dad (Gus) momentarily as i needed to move them around. quickly, gus attacked recees and scratched his eye. recees was bleeding, but it stopped. he is eating, but i'm very scared and cannot get a walk in vet appointment right now. any idea on what to do?

Hi, I am sorry to hear your piggie Recees has an eye injury. I have no experience with this but do know that most eye injuries need to be treated quickly so getting to a vet as soon as possible is important.

Can you schedule an appointment or take him to an out of hours/emergency appointment? @Wiebke do you have any advice?

He will need to be seen by a vet as soon as you can. Eyes always need urgent attention.

I hope he is ok

Make sure you don’t put a piggy directly into the cage of another piggy as it will be seen as a territory invasion.
