I have just put all my guineas out in their runs for the first time since one of my sows had 4 babies. The 2 sows and 4 babies were in one run and my 2 boars george and fudge were in another run next to them. George and fudge are both neutered and have got on brilliantly since i got them they share a hutch and i have never had a problem with dominance or aggressive behaviour, but when out earlier George started "humping" Fudge. I separated them and put them back in their hucth where they have been absolutely fine. Goerge is 7months old and fudge is 6months. Is this normal because i have never seen it happen before.rolleyes

I've never had the combination of girls and boys at same time......but i have friends that do........they NEVER put them out near each other as they have terrible problems each time :{

if you go thru some threads on here you'll see and read some great advice.....keep them separate at all times, make sure you wash your hands before and after holding each sex......oh and when you put the on the grass make sure the boys go out first (and i was just discussing this with mackpossum on thursday!) cause the girls could not careless about the boys, but boys will get 'erm ornery :{'

hope this all helps :)

Your boys are at the hormonal age, so having sows next door triggers them off. Neutering only prevents the reproduction, not normal boar behaviour!

Yep, they're at the classic humpy teenager stage, and the smell of the girls just set them off! rolleyes Be careful not to put the boys run on ground where the girls have been recently, and even the scent of the girls on your clothes could set them off at that age. It's perfectly 'normal' as long as it doesn't progress into more serious dominance issues
