We have 2 sows, one of which seems to have developed a hump which is quite noticeable now but thinking back it has probably been there a while.

Giving her a haircut makes it more visible, hence us noticing it now, but it doesn't come out too well in a photo. It's just behind the head, where the 'shoulders' are. It's not a small lump, about 7-8cm diameter.

First thought is it would be a swelling or growth but you can feel the bones directly under the skin.

Before dashing her over to the vets I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts...?

Thanks, Steven

I’ve no idea I’m afraid. But good you’re getting her to the vets. All the best.

Hi!

Sorry, any swellings and lumps require a hands-on examination because it can be a wide range of issues. Wild guessing won't help you any - and that is all we can do. All the best!

Thank you, we'll take her to see the vet. She seems happy and it doesn't seem painful to touch, hopefully it's just our over-active imaginations!
Steven

Some lumps are nothing at all, and just require monitoring rather than specific treatment in the first instance.
Good to get it seen by a vet so you can rule out any major issues, and like you say hopefully it is nothing.

beautiful fluffy piggy too
