My 1 year old Guinea pig developed an insanely large mass on her chin overnight… she’s eating, moving around, weeking, and drinking fine. The lump is extremely hard. Any ideas of what it could be? I attached a link to an image.

Please have your piggy seen by a vet asap. Any lump which comes up quickly needs urgent care. Only a hands on vet check can tell you what it is

Switch from routine weekly weight checks to instead weighing her daily so you can more closely monitor hay intake. Step in with syringe feeding if the lump is impeding her ability to eat enough hay including any pain which can cause a reduction in hay intake

Please have your girl seen soon as possible. Did you feel it there before and then it just ‘blew up’ overnight?

Hoping something simple. Please do let us know how you get on.

I once had a piggy develop an abscess on his jaw in a similar spot, and it also seemed to blow up to the size of a golf ball overnight.

Your piggy needs to be seen by a vet asap.
They will be able to treat it, but only a vet can prescribe the proper treatment after a hands on check for a conclusive diagnosis.

Thank you all for the replies! It exploded overnight and left a quarter inch hole in her neck.. no signs of infection so far, I’ve been flushing the hole out twice a day. I’m taking her to the vet Friday morning.

That looks sore. Your poor piggy. Is it possible to get an earlier appointment? What are you flushing it out with?

Just water. Friday was the soonest appointment that was available, the next closest emergency vet is 3 hours away :(
