put teddy in with 2 small lads and didnt think anything of it till this afternoon when i went to feed them and there were blood everywhere :o

seen teddy first as he came to the food bowl - grabbed him out straight away as he was the new introduction to the other 2 :(

teddy - sliced ear - blood everywhere on his white fuzzy coat - cuts all over - nose all bloody and runny
smoke - thoruough health checked him and only just found one huge cut just towards the end as when i picked him up i felt it :P huge gaping gash wound and mouth all crusty from blood - teeth are jagged - hes black rexso cant determine where his cuts are really
skydust - no injuries or blood anywhere - hes mainly white roan

what shall i do ?
ive separated teddy as hes on his own now but i thought they would have been ok as this has never happened before
applied cream savlon to all cuts i have seen :(

just hoping the fall out from these three havent put the other two off from being friends :( they are in a double tier 5ft hutch so dont no why they didnt get on :-\

With the black one you could try cotton wool to see where any blood is coming from?
Ears do bleed alot I think all you can do is keep it clean and let it scab up. Locate all the wounds, check all over and then check daily to make sure they're not infected or getting pus in them, or smelly.

If there's lots of blood and big wounds they might need antibiotics to kill off any infection.

have you introduced him to the others slowly? as he should not be left alone with the other two until fully bonded. also from what i have learnt here 3 or any odd number is not good for guinea pigs as 2 can pick on the one. and by introducing another boar can mess up the bonded pair, it would be better if you got him a little friend whether it be male or female. perhaps try bonding him with someone else, good luck hope all wounds heal nicely. sending hugs :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Michaela the size of their hutch wouldn't matter. My run was 14ft x 11ft & 2 of my boys had a fight. If they don't like one another they don't like one another, boy or girl

If they were mine i'd check them over v.carefully & see if their wounds are superficial or need looking at by a vet. :)

Warm salt water is the best thing to bathe them with& it wouldn't matter if they licked it, am not sure if savlon is ok if ingested :-\

I gather Smoke and Skydust are males and have been in the hutch together and there has been no problems with the two of them.....
Introducing a third male to this mix can be lethal. Males are fighting territory and that's what the two have done with Teddy. You need to introduce them on common ground slowly and always supervise them for the first meetings.
You could clean the hutch out completely, desinfect everything to give it a new smell and also bath all three to get rid of the known smell, then introduce them again on common ground.
You can't just put another boar in with two existing boars and hope they'll get on .... as you found out the hard way! Also three males don't always get on, you might be better off getting another companion for Teddy alltogether.
The hutch size seems to be no problem. It's the piggies attidude and territorial behaviour that is the problem here.
Good luck!

thanks mackpoosum - ive always told tht to people on here exactly what u have said but ive never actually done it before with any of my boars as they get on like straight away except for this time unfortunately

Oh Michaela i'm sorry to hear love :'( :'(
I'd nip down to the vets and get them the once over, just to be sure O0
You have done a great job cleaning them up tho O0
Dam these boars... ::)

Hope they are ok, they do go straight for the ears, Twinkle did that with Sunshine and then Radley. Just clean them up Emma gave me som Galen's Garden cream that worked a treat. If it looks infected though I'd go to a vet for some antibiotics. :)

as said before space doesnt matter, bob and merls were free range when introduced and they still went for each other, merlin had a cut paw and i found a bite wound on bobs cheek.

UPDATE :

Well, Teddy is still on his own for his and other boars saftey just for now ;D Not really - I only kept him separate to allow time for his injuries to heal - well they have healed so soon i will introduce him back to his 2 old boar pals instead of the 2 new boar bullies ::)

Heres some piccies of his cut lips and ripped ear :-\ It has fully healed now O0
