Hello, I am thinking of finally starting my guinea pig on doxycycline but am preparing for possible appetite loss. So I'm practicing mixing and loading. For the life of me I don't understand how to load the syringe. I am using pellet paste. Are you supposed to draw it into the syringe, or top load it? I cut off the tip like suggested but once its off, the stopper no longer works and I dont think I can draw anything with it. I tried to no avail. But top loading is extremely messy and time consuming. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Also what consistency should it be? Also, someone linked me to a syringe feeding guide, but the photos are not working for me so its useless. I tried finding a video but couldn't find one for pellets specifically that actually showed how to load the syringe. I am afraid to start her on doxy in case I am unable to figure this out.

Edit: the syringe is not the problem it seems. Its the consistency. According to a video I saw, consistency should like pea soup. But I am unable to attain this. When I wet the ground pellets, then mix it thoroughly, I end up with liquidy herb pesto. When I try to draw, I am able to get extremely dilute liquid, which won't work. When I try to draw the part that's more pesto consistency, it won't draw due to the thick and uneven consistency. I am totally confused as to what I am doing wrong.

The video doesnt help me really. Ours looks similar but is too uneven to draw. We can draw the liquid part but it is significantly lighter in color which means it is too dilute. I dont know how the per son in the video got it to the right consistency, but we have tried anything and everything and nothing is working, so no doxycycline for now unfortunately.

Please cut the tip off the syringe with scissors just below where it widens so that the fibre can pass through but the plunger is still held in.
