My sister's guinea has an eye ulcer, therefore we have to apply ointments and gels on her little eye 10 times a day for two weeks! The application has been incredibly difficult, at first we (and the vet) failed miserably as Gogo did everything to keep us from putting the ointments in her eye. The oily gels have gotten everywhere and have spread to the fur around her eye, some around her ear and even some by her cheek. We've tried to take most of it off with a warm wet cloth but most (if not all) of the oiliness is still there. We know we cannot shampoo her head so, how can we possibly remove it?

Skin care lovers must know about oil cleansing. We thought about applying a piggy safe oil and then washing it off with water, but we aren't sure which oil we can use or if it would even work. Helpppppp

I'm not really sure, but as I've used coconut oil to clean up the greasy boar butts, it's safe to use so wouldn't do your piggy any harm- just rub it in with a flannel and that might work.

Hi!

Your piggy will gradually groom the overspill off by themselves whenever they give themselves a 'piggy wash' during the day.
Don't worry, it will disappear within a few days after the end of treatment without you having to intervene. ;)

What was your piggy prescribed?
We live in Mexico so its difficult for me to tell you the exact prescription, but its a mixutre of oinments and eye drops with dexamethasone, acetylcysteine, vitamin A & E, chloramphenicol and tobramycin :)

Chloramphenicol and tobramycin are antibiotics . ;)

Just continue with the full course and things will right themselves.
