Running away is a perfectly natural reaction to, what is to them, a new predator. It will take time before they see you as a friend and provider of veg. Regular gentle and quiet handling, hand-feeding, and a soft voice will encourage them to be less nervous of you. It may take weeks, months or even years, but don't give up.
