I have recently given Tilly some newspaper to nibble at and hide in and she likes eating it, and i have read that it is safe if it is soy based, but how do you find that out? there is a number for general enquiries...but feel a bit silly ringing it... the paper i use is Metro, which is a free one. thanks to anyone who can help! also i have some sketch pad cartridge paper, can i give her that?

I don't know if it's any use, but we always used newspaper where the print never rubbed off, ours would often nibble a bit & it never seemed to hurt them?

I would recommend not giving it your pig until you know for certain it is safe though I wouldn't give it my pigs personally anyway as it is from an unclean source :(

I've used newspaper to line the bottom of my cages for years, including the Metro, the piggies nibble it & i've never had a problem. :)

Hey, I have always used newspaper to line both my guinea pig and hamster cages and have done so for years. I too often use the metro and our weekly free paper and have never (touch wood) had any problems from it xx

I always used newspaper to line the bottom of my cages - the piggies would actually hunt through the hay and megazorb to get to eat to it it! rolleyes

thanks for your replies...I'm a little aprehensive about giving it her....she is occupied now however with a cardboard tunnel, so think i will leave the paper out for now x
