I have recently gotten two guinea pigs that keep fighting and I have heard that getting a bigger cage will help them get along.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to fuse two cages together to create one big cage?
I want them to be inside and can't find any bigger cages than the one I have (120cm(W) x 59cm(D) x 50cm(H)).
I have attached a picture of the cage I have if that is helpful at all.

With those commercial type cages, some people buy two and then remove the side panel of wire and put a bridge across the plastic base so they can run from one to the other.

The alternative is a c&c cage which can be made to any size you need.

How old are you piggies and what sex are they? If there has been full blown fights, rather than just bickering, then a bigger cage won’t help. A full blown fight is a total relationship breakdown and the piggies will need to be separated permamently. If it is just bickering, then a bigger cage might help. If they are Male, then make sure to have two of all equipment in the cage ie two food bowls, bottles etc and plenty of open ended hidey houses.

They are both male, and unfortunately it was a full blown fight with one biting the other. They are both no older than three months, if they need to be removed permanentlywould you recommend I try to find another friend for each?
I just wouldn't want them to reject each other again then I have 4 separate guinea pigs

Their hormones are kicking in at that age and it is when fall outs are likely. If it had just been a bit of bickering, dominance behaviour etc then it may be salvageable but if full on fighting and biting has occurred, then that doesn’t sound like they will work together. Did you get them already together or did you do a bonding yourself? Some piggies just don’t get on. If you read the boars dominance and behaviour guides on this site (you can find the guides tab on the top banner) and that may help you.
If they are to be permanently separated then the best situation is that they find a new companion each.
Do you have a rescue centre near you who offer boar dating? It is a great way to find new friends for them as the pigs basically choose their own friend which results in a better bond. You need to be aware though that for a pair of boars when it comes to cage size bigger is always better - 120cm isn’t big enough for a pair of boars. The recommended size for a boar pair is 6ft, 180cm. You might be ok with a 150cm cage but it is very boar dependent. My own boar pair were not ok in a 150cm cage and I had to make it bigger.
The alternative is to get them both neutered, wait six weeks and then find them a female each.

Ah okay thank you for that
I'll definitely look into the guide
Unfortunately we don't have any rescues like that around where I am.
If I can't seem to find any bigger cages I'll probably look into getting them neutered and have a female mate for them. I hadn't even considered that an option so thank you for bring that to my attention.

What is your country/location? This website has members from all over so we can probably help with how to find a bigger cage as even a Male/female pairing would benefit from more than a 120cm.

I live in Victoria, Australia
If there are people who know where to get a bigger indoor cage I would love to hear from them.
Otherwise I would be willing to fuse two cages together.

Looks at the ferplasts 160cm long cage. I think the model is called krolik

Oh thank you
I couldn't find anything this size
I'll definitely be getting that one, thanks
If you go on zooplus they are cheap. About £60 in uk. I dont know if they ship them out or not. U will have to have a look

My cage consists of two 120cm skyline maxi cages with two ends folded up to make one long cage. I put a wee twig bridge over the two plastic edges but when they’re raving about they just leap over anyway. I’ll try and find photos for you.

Two cages joined using cable ties. The ends lift up and can rest on either cage. This makes a 240 cage but I do have 4 girls- I don’t think my cage will be big enough when they’re fully grown!

I ordered one of these cages and received 4. They are really good value. I think that set up looks fine for 4

That's what I was thinking of doing with two 120cm cages, it looks good so I'm glad that it'll work out if I decide to do that.
Thanks

If zooplus deliver in Australia then they are definitely the best call as they have a small number of reasonably priced 140 and 160cm cages. If not you could look for the same cages on amazon but they are likely to be more expensive through there.

Yeah I had a look and they unfortunately don't deliver to Australia
I'm gonna connect two cages together and see how they go with that. If it still doesn't seem like enough room I'll see about getting the 160cm cages and connecting them.
Thank you :)
