So my hairless guinea pig, Piggles, might have mites or some other skin problem. we've got appointment for the 14th next week but I don't know what to do in the meantime. I've tried wrapping her body up from scratching since she's broken the skin and her body looks like a mine field now, but then she sits in the corner pouting. I'm thinking that if it's mites it might've came from the bedding (and before anyone says "use fleece, use fleece!" it doesn't work for my family, we tried it for 5 months and it sucked, plus my guinea pigs prefer the paper bedding over the fleece since it's more comfortable than the fleece liners.) I was just wondering what to do in the meantime since the vet appt isn't in 8 days.

Piggles symptoms:
Scratching and biting a lot
Aggravation
scabs & scratches

(I cannot post pictures since I use a flip phone and my computer's camera doesn't work)

I’m sorry to hear this .

Using fleece doesn’t stop mites in any event. Mites are either hay mites coming in their hay; or mange mites and are already in their skin but usually kept in check by the immune system.

Unfortunately without a diagnosis there isn’t anything you can do other than disinfect the cage and throw hay away, and wait for the appointment.
