As some of you know ive had Wexford now for coming up to 3wks and last wednesday was his 6wks post op and i introduced him to his two new girlfriends (mother JJ and daughter Summer).

Things went ok when in neutral territory, but when i cleaned the girls big cage out and put all 3 together it seemed to fall apart - so i made the decision to take Wexford out as i didn't want a fight breaking out.

Anyhow since then ive given them some short meetings, but the teeth chattering from Wexford is still present. Ive come to the conclusion that the one most likely to accept Wexford will in fact be JJ as Summer and Wexford seem bto clash at every opportunity (once Wexford starts teeth chattering summer will circle him and the two will go at each other)

I think Wexford is seriously lacking in confidence - but after what he went through, it's totally understandable - the problem now is how to build up his confidence?

Yesterday all pigs spent time out on the grass and i purposely put JJ and Summer's run next to Wexfords - but as Wexford spent most of the time in the pigloo - this turned out to be counter-productive.

I then got some veg out last night and tried some floor time with JJ and Wexford - there was lots of bun-wiggling from Wexford and JJ seemed quite happy to sit there whilst Wexford had a 3second sniff of her bottom - and that was it.... He made no attempt other than rumbling at her from a distance!

I then decided, if Wexford is the one with issues then maybe he'd feel more comfortable in his own cage - so i made the decision (based upon how laid back JJ seemed to be) to put JJ and Wexford in Wexfords cage for a while - afterall that's his domain and so he might feel more relaxed about wooing his new girlfriend - again nothing.....

I know nothing is possibly a good sign - but all he did was put himself at the other end of the cage and go to sleep :)) Everytime JJ move, he rumbled, but that's as far as it went!

I did the same with Summer - floor time first with loads of Veg - this went ok - so i put Wexford and Summer in his cage and that's when it went downhill - he tried to mount her and she sort of jumped out the way and from then in they both chattered teeth at one another and circled each other.

I'm guessing JJ was in season yesterday - hence why she was so laid back - i tried her in his cage again this morning and everything goes to plan - lots of rumbling - but the moment one of the girls shows an interest in him he runs away - oddly enough ive not heard him chatter his teeth at JJ!

Sorry for the long post - but any advice on how to build his confidence up would be great. I think Wexford is the one holding back on their relationship blossoming :)p

I am not an expert, but if it was my piggies, I would put Wexford and JJ together, as they seem happy together, and leave them like that for a while, untill Wexford is more comfortable.
I would then add Summer much later (a couple of weeks maybe)
Hopefully by that time he is much more laid back.

Thanks for the reply.

Before Wexford was introduced to the girls i swapped things around between the two so both would recognize each other's scents. I was also keeping Wexford in a 120cm cage that i borrowed - not anticipating a longer bonding process that cage was given back as it was very much needed by the person i lent it off.

So now Wexford is in my emergency/hospital cage a Ferplast 80 while the girls are in a 5ft x 2.5ft cage. Ive re-arranged my dining room around so that each evening we can set up a temp run for Wexford to stretch his legs.

The problem occurred the other day when i put Wexford in the big cage - obviously JJ and Summer know this as their home and Wexford was nothing more than an intruder!

Separating JJ and her daughter could end up with Summer not being intergrated at a later date.... Don't think i'd want to risk that :{ Summer is also very much dependant upon JJ and misses her tremendously - the first thing Summer will do if JJ has been away from her for a length of time is follow her around relentlessly and then groom her....
