How often do you clean your pigs out?

During the summer as they are out usually from 8am - 8pm I only have to clean their palace once a week, during the winter they are cleaned out twice a week sometimes more if they are residing in the inside hutch.

This is how I have done it with all the guinea pigs I've had and I've never had a problem with beasties living in the cage, it getting too damp or it smelling putrid.

I just wondered what the average was really?

Palace LOL I would love to see apicture of the 'palace'.
 
I change every 2-3 days, but then I have a group of nine in my living room!
 
It was very tempting to buy a pink palace for them...I plumped for this...

I change mine about twice a week. Mine is an indoor cage, and it sits in our livingroom also.
 
That's a great hutch. :)

I clean every 3 days and spot clean every day but that's because I have indoor pigs in my living room. :) What you're doing sounds good. I wish my girls could have a nice garden to play in.
 
Lovely hutch.

Mine live indoors so I do something to clean/tidy part of it every day. I collect the pig poo for my compost heap by hand at least once a day. One day I plan to make a pile of all of the poo they produce in one day just to see how much it is. I guess I would have to do this while the rest of family are out or they may have me committed inbreeding.

I keep thinking I should count them up and do the math to work out the poo per minute count, then I think I should get out more. :red:p
 
It depends on what bedding you use and how many are in the cage I think. Also what you feed them as they poo more if they have certain veg lol
 
When I had my piggies, they were in two cages indoors, and I did a full clean every second day.
