Do they poop! Oh my word. They have been here 24 hours and I have picked up so much poo lols!

Anyway, hi from me, bought two little guinea pig girls home from a rescue centre last night - I am totally smitten already ^) Still working on names!

So, not sure if this is in the right place but poo - what do you use / how do you remove it daily from their little home in between full cleans? I am using fleece at the moment to line cage - first time piggy owner and liked the sound of it.

Oh, and I think I had my first wheek tonight - I think she was tryiing to tell me she wanted feeding, so funny and have I interperated this correct? Certainly didn't seem stressed (need to learn piggy talk/noises) but she was up at the bars wheeking - stopped when I got the food.

:)) Welcome to the world of piggies.... They are basically just a tube with legs but with added cuteness.

One of our girls Megan is a poo machine! In between full cleans we just pick it up with our hands and throw it in a box we have by the cage for old hay etc.... this gets binned during the week.

That certainly sounds like a wheek you heard. They wheek when the want food or something you their slave can provide, you'll find they develop alarm clock like properties when it comes to breakfast and tea time :))

Looking forward to hearing about more of your girls, do you have any pigtures?

Hello and welcome! Piggies eat for around 16hours per day so yes they do poop - A LOT! :))

ha ha yes they do poo a lot. I have a little shovel and I scoop poo up every day and put it in a bin with a lid on! Look forward to pictures.x

Oh yes, they poop heaps! But that's good, signs of healthy piggies. Because any problems with their digestive systems can mean serious illness I find myself now welcoming all the poopies. It is my assurance that there's nought wrong with the boys. I've even started saying "good boy" whenever one poops on my lap after hand fed vegie treats. (I do use a lap pad).

yep they poo a lot, but then its that that hard to just pick it all up on fleece and put it in the bin. I use a dustpan and brush to spot clean my pens, I only do it once a day now as work days means I am home long past their bed times. I do pick the poo up with my hands as well, just as easy to do really especially if in the boys pen, I sweep the fleece with my hand, get lots of long hair hay and aboise in the mix and grab a few handfuls out each time.

I love the way they munch all day long pretty much and spend a lot of my time finding things to add for them to munch from and provide enrichment rather than just food on a plate or in a bowl.

I always have my little dustpan & brush to hand for all the poo's :) Look forward to seeing your new girls.

Thanks everyone - need to get myself organised. They are sweet little darlings, I really must sort out their names though.

Pic now on my avatar - aren't they just lovely? I started calling the one on the right pudding - wasn't intended as here name just a term of endearment but it kind of suits her.
