1.) I was just wondering how much time a day you spend holding talking etc to your piggy.
2.) Also how does your piggy spend his day?

First thing in the morning I give my piggy's their veggies and they let me know they want them as soon as they see me up. Then I give their C&C cage a spot clean. Day to day some time changes depending on what I am doing. They always get to go in their C&C run in the basement around lunch time and usually they stay 1 to 3 hours most times I sit right in it with them for around 1 hour other times I play on the computer because it is right beside I also spot clean their main cage before they go back in. Then at 7:30 when the kids go to bed they also return to the basement run and they stay till 10:00 or 11:00. When I am watching T.V I always cuddle with them and they can see me on the couch. Again I spot clean before they go back in their main cage for the night. Through out the day they get some cuddles. I also have a dollar store C&C run that I put up in my kitchen front room area for something different for them. I try and put new things in all their spaces so they don't get board or I just change what they have up. These 2 are my 1st piggy's I have ever owned and I want to make sure I am doing everything right. They get outside but not to often I heard they can get bloat when there is a breeze, plus it is either windy cold or to hot, but they do get grass especially when my parents come. I am interested to see how other piggy's spend there days.

Thanks :)

When it's nice weather like it is at the moment my girls get an hour's cuddle/lap time first thing in the morning, then they go out in their run on the grass all day, and then I bring them inside for another hour's cuddle/chill time after dinner. They get me constantly waffling on at them though, and a lot of attention from my other family members-they probably just want to be left in peace!

Sorry for taking long to getting back to you. Sounds like your piggy's have a great loving home. I heard that Piggy's get bloat when they are in weather that is windy etc and I was wondering how much of a breeze is Ok for them? My kids are 4 and 5 and they like the pigs but they find it hard because they aren't animals that you can play with. It is more me that wanted them loll

I don't know about the wind, but I know that they don't like drafts. I just give them a range of hideys and if it's particularly cold or windy they have indoor floor time instead, but I like to put them out as much as possible.

My pigs are housed in the family room and I work from home and my office is down there, so they see a lot of me. Generally, the routine is that I give them hay, pellets, and fresh water in the morning (they know to expect that and wheek at me as soon as I come downstairs!) I come and go past them all day and say hi and sometimes stop for a pat in the cage or a quick treat. The kids come home around 3 and also tend to grab them a treat and pat them or get them out for some lap time. Once the kids go to bed, they get to run around free in the hallway and I put fresh fruit and veggies out for them at that time. Afterwards, most nights I will sit them on my lap while I watch TV before bed. One of mine is on ongoing antibiotics, so she gets her med dose last thing before I go to bed too. They see a lot of us... I'm glad we have room for them in a busy area of the house!

I work from home and my computer is in the piggy room, so they get to see a lot of me and have casual interaction during the whole day.
I have some cuddle piggies who enjoy it, but my piggies are firstly members of one of my five piggy groups and that is where their first loyalty rightly lies. They get daily roaming time in turn and go outside on the lawn when the weather is suitable (i.e. the grass feels warm and dry to my bare feet with protection against the sun via a towel or blanket over the run.
All piggies are used to being handled and will come to me for a treat, but with having around two dozen piggies, I do not force the ones that are not keen on cuddles or even human interaction to more than what they give me freely.
It very much depends on where you set the main accent - piggy dictated interaction or having cuddly pets. The crucial bit in both cases is to build up trust.

I spent most of the day with my boys and they come up to me to demand attention every so often. If I happen to go out all day I am wheeked to death!

My one pig loves being picked up and cuddled and my other not so much. My Stevie is in my arms now as I type doing his purring noise, and Tiger is right near buy mouthing off to me saying you took my Stevie away loll. Whenever they are apart they let me know.

The two I got from @blade100 have lap time, go out in the run. Treacle and Fudge are too skittish to handle the same as Pigson and Teddy. So They get a weekly weigh, bum check and nail trim, but they do talk to me!

My piggies are outside but they get a lot of attention from us still. I leave for work quite early in the morning but I always pop out in the garden say good morning to them, give them some treats and give them all a little scratch on the head (if they are in the mood), by boyfriend does the same. He will also pop home on his lunch to check on them give them proper portion of veggies etc.

They know the sound of my car when i get home in the evening so i am greeted by a chorus of wheeks (i always make sure i have something leafy to hand to give to them when i get home). Then we usually get them out in the evening after dinner for a proper run around where they get lots of cuddles and even more veggies.

The weekends are better because we can have them out for longer. Even though we give them the odd brush during the week, Sundays are usually grooming days which exist of weigh ins, hair cuts and nail trim (pampered piggies) which even though they hate it I find it does help me to bond with them. Even when they are in their hutch one of us will usually come out into the garden and talk to them every now and then. They always seem to be a lot happier when we are outside.

And who says piggies who live outside get less attention? pffft! Mine definitely get a lot of interaction with us.

My boys all get a morning scratch and tickle before I go to work, then when I get home its cuddles and outside play (weather permitting) on my days off I check on them every hour- but I get the hint when they all pretend to be asleep to leave well alone- LOL my boys are pretty good at letting me know when they want attention and when they don't- its taken nearly a year but they are now all happy to have cuddles and no longer struggle in my arms in fact they have all turned into right mummys boys and love nothing better than snuggling up

I also work from home and my 2 boys have their cage in the computer room which is just off the kitchen. So we spend most of the day together. Unfortunately whenever I go into the kitchen to get a cuppa as soon as I open the fridge to get milk they wheek their little heads off demanding vegies. If it isn't time for brekkie, lunch or evening tea, I just hand feed them the odd piece to quieten them. Every evening they come out for floor time in the lounge while we watch telly. Every 2nd evening they also get cuddle time on the sofa where they're bribed with their favourite treat parsley. We stroke, they munch. Whenever the weather is nice they also get about 30 minutes on the lawn. Usually though it's too hot here so I go out and cut grass for them with scissors. Plus Hazelnut does not like it when the wind ruffles his fur!

Every month Peanut Butter has to go to the vet for his dentals. Hazelnut and I spend the whole time snuggling together awaiting the call from the vet that PB is ready to go home.

Oh good I'm not the only one who cuts grass with scissors (although I don't have the same excuse of heat- they are just spoilt and also not keen on the wind!)
Ha ha, my neighbours have a great chuckle when they see me on the lawn in the rain with scissor & yellow bowl as they now know what that means. I'm glad Hazelnut is not the only nut in regards to the wind. It took me a while to suss what all his squealing and air sniffing was about the first time it happened. .

Aww this thread is so sweet. Every morning I wake up clean out the whole cage (every two days) give them fresh veggies pellets water and top up the hay. On the days I'm not at work I usually spend an hour watching them and a little lap time with 1 piggy whilst I read a book. In the evening the kids hold them all and once their in bed they get more veg and I put a cover over their cage to let them know it's night time. They settle down and make little noise in the night (most nights). The days I'm at work the cage won't get cleaned or even spot checked I simply fill up all the food and throw veg in. On my days off they get so happy I only work part time unfortunately in the winter run time is rare but the cage is a 2x4 and they do run laps in it. However in summer they can go out in the hutch and run.

Did you know guinea pigs do not have to go outside for exercise? In winter they can play inside. I used to let mine play in the hall until I made my cage big enough not to have floor time. I am sure your little ones would enjoy exercise indoors too.

Wow this sounds great how big does a cage have to be to include run time x

My 2 live in a 6ftx2ft enclosure but I like to put them outside in the run for a change of scenery for them and a chance to graze on the grass.

mine get talked to in the morning when i and my OH get up. then spot cleaning. and full cage clean once a week. then they get grass. lots of gass. freshly picked. i talk to them throughout the day, as i work from home. and if I'm feeling particularly lonely and depressed they come out during the day for snuggles. but the mostly run around thier cage around 4:30 we cook dinner, and they get veggie scraps, fresh from our gardens, till after 5 pm when they get floor time/TV time, we usually watch a tv show while we have them out, and have them in a fleece blanket on the lounge with us and give them extra veggies usually the ones the really like, turtle likes to explore the 'tunnels' made by the blanket, Wicca likes to watch TV. she gets all upset when she has to go home.

My pigs get to be held twice a day atleast each sometimes when I'm watching the telly or when I'm reading or napping or playing games and of course once a day they get to come out and run around the floor my one pig who is my fav I know I shouldn't play favorites with my babies but I do anyway Hodgins often gets to run around on the kitchen floor all day while we do stuff cause he likes being around us and he's extremely friendly, he's also the one I nursed back to health so we share a special bond and if it's nice weather they get to go outside for 2 to 3 hours everyday in there play pens to run around and of course I'm always taking to them or petting them and giving them veggies daily, also when I do need to bath them they get to come out and sometimes a family member or a friend will hold them as well.

Such a lovely, sweet and gorgeous thread everyone! Thank you for sharing your lives with all your piggies.
My two need a bit more space I think by the sound of it x

My boys have play time in the shed I have 3 double story cages on legs and I let them have 1/2 hr to 1 hr run around time - my husband made a set of steps for them so they can run around the shed floor ( winter and wet days) and run in and out their cages- they get so exicited when I go in and announce play time they are all waiting in their respective cages wondering who gets to play first - mind you getting them to get back into the cage so the next pair can play is a bit of a nightmare and usually only accomplished with bribes :D
