I'm moving house in october and I will hopefully have enough space to move my 4 girls inside to a c&c cage.

At the moment they are happy outside in their enclosure because they have free range of the grass but I feel that I would have a closer bond and spend more time with them if they were inside.

So in total how much money did you spend on your c&c cage? I already have the fleece because they have fleece in their hutches.

I have 2 pairs of girls who have to live separately because they fight but I would like them to live next to each other so that they can see each other like they do now.

Do you prefer to have yours inside or outside?

I spent quite a lot on my c&c because I went for an elaborate design with a base which requires a lot of extra grids! I did reduce the cost a bit by buying in bulk and sharing it with a friend who was also building a c&c cage at the time. All in I think I probably spent about £130ish including tape and cable ties - that bought me a 4×4×2 L shape (if that makes sense?) With a base containing a 2x2 basement and 3 lofts each 2x1. It also supplied more than enough correx to make 3 ramps and 2 bridges! I had quite a bit of spare correx as well which I gave to another friend.

For something a lot more basic you pay a lot less. It also depends on what equipment you already have. If you're building it all completely yourself you'll need a stanley knife or a crafting knife, tape, cable ties, and depending where you're cutting it you may wish to get something to cut it on to save your carpets (I used my mum's cutting boards from her sewing room!). If using ramps as well you may want some glue to stick 2 pieces of correx together to strenghten it and some carpet/rug to line it with for grip.

I've probably made it all sound a lot more complex than it really is, it's actually quite simple to do! If you need any help or advice give me a shout as I learned quite a lot from building my own! It's definitely worth while though, I can't imagine not having my boys in the house with me!

I'm in process of expanding mine but when finished will be a multistory of separate cages 6 grids by 2 and four levels with base. One of levels will be divided in two and have two 3x2 cages.

Grids are £18 for 30 at costco bought some this weekend for my expansion. (3 packs) Got 4mm correx huge pieces 5 for around £45.

I got some grids for £33 inc postage on ebay for 30 (one pack) and got 2 packs of 20 for about £20 each about 5 years ago

My total cage sizes would be equivalent of 8 120cm cages in length but a lot wider and cost around £190 in total (ish)

I have two sets of two guinea pigs and id ideally want two cages with a large floor space and a second loft level. How many grids would I be looking at needing?

I bought a set for a 2x4 with a 1x2 loft from candcguineapigcages.com for just over £150 (the entire cage had a lid, open would be cheaper), I bought a box of my own grids from Wayfair for about £30 and this allowed me to add a stand with grids to spare. I then re-shaped and the cage is now 4x3 with a 1x4 loft and I've not had to buy anymore grids, only more correx from Ebay, that was £17. So about £200, but for a huge cage, worth it!
