In my Guinea Pig's shed mainly! LOL
Hi guys!

Just a quick question.. my pigs are kept in a 4ftx4ft space (in a shed). I'm hoping to make it 4ftx5ft soon, and then add a second level that will be 4ftx1.5ft.

So, how many pigs would you say is the limit I could have in this space? Obviously, with them still having room. (Don't worry, I'm not going to go crazy and go buy lots haha), I just wanted to think practically for the future.

Thank you! :(|) xx

I think you could have 5 or 6 guinea pigs in that area. Though I would'nt split up the two level as the top one will be quite small.

Actually maybe start off with 4 and then if you think its ok add another piggie:)

Hmm.. I've known some people to keep 4 pigs in a 4ftx3ft of space and they called that "a lot", so I was thinking maybe a reasonable amount of 4, then if I needed to rescue one or two more (at a push), it would be okay. :)

In total at the moment, it's 18sqft, and when I add the top level, it will be 24sq ft.. the recommended space for 3 pigs is 10.5, and then preferred is 13, so I think I'm doing pretty well. ;)

My girls have got 24sq foot between 7 of them split between two joined hutches. It's getting a little cramped now the babies of the herd are getting a bit bigger. If it were all one space rather than two separate spaces I think it'd be a lot roomier (I hope that makes sense...) for them as it'd be one open space rather than two smaller spaces.

I'm looking at either a shed, or one mahoosive thing now for my pigs... as I'd like to adopt a few more girls and a boy. :)

Haha, yeah, I understand you. Even though more would be sharing the space, it would be more room in a way. ;)

Aw, I've never had a boy pet. Ever. I'm really quite desperate for one... :{ :))

i would work on this basis
5ft x2ft is recomended for 3 piggies so you have 2 lots of that so 6 piggies not including the second level which i wouldn't :)

i have 2 lots of 4 piggies in a 4x3 C&C cage each but this will be more later and they do get runtime to.

i have 3 girls and a boy in each group.

Hehe, awesome! :(|)

Aw, I want a neutered boy! Hopefully, when I've had my girls for a little longer I may be getting a few more piggies to join, including a boy. ;)
