How many piggies will this hold?

It's ok if they use the ramps but many won't - do yours have ramps already? I only ask because I've found some pigs use them and others just won't - no matter what! It would be a shame to get it and then realise they only use one level. I'd say each level is ok for a pair, so yes - 6

Mine use ramps fine so far, they have a second level in their C&C.

cheers.

Oh and they were also happy scrabbling and hopping up and down the little houses that come with the neros.

That cage is more suitable for climbers e.g. chinchillas. Pigs need space to run laps rather than extra levels which that cage just doesn't have. The useable space if you take into account ramps, holes, bowls, hideys is actually very low. 120cm isn't a lot to run laps at the best of times so it certainly wouldn't be suitable for 6 pigs. You have to also be able to account for all pigs being in the same area at the same time - it would be a real squash and injuries could happen.

If you think of cages in C&C terms then second levels don't count as not all pigs will use ramps (though you say yours do if you got any more this could not well be the case). Those ramps are not suitable for pigs without sides on them because they could fall off easily if they are startled.

I wouldn't use it at all personally and can't see how you could justify spending over £200 on that when you could build a C&C twice the size of that for a tenth of the cost?

If I decide to go with my plans a cage would be needed which could be movable which a C&C can't. I am fully aware of the cost of C&C as I have a C&C set up already.

The upper level definately does contribute to their area they run lap after lap including the ramp and upper area in their laps.

Obviously the ramps would need adapting to keep piggies safe, that goes without saying.

Thanks anyway.

It's not quite 4x2 on each cage I wouldn't put no more than 4 in it. :)

6 or 9 depens on if the piggies got along with each other x

Absolutely NO WAY should that many pigs be in a cage like this - can you imagine if 6 let alone 9 were on one level at feeding time?!?

A C&C can easily be moved if you make it the right way. Fix it together with cable ties instead of connectors and put grids underneath the base as well.

I wouldn't say as many as 6 only because a nero 4 is same size as each of these levels which fits 2 but then you have all the cut outs and the ramps so that means a lot less space for running around. maybe 4/5? I'm not entirely sure but not 6 upwards anyway!

I was going on splitting the levels and having 2 in each - otherwise no, not ok for 6, as you say a lot of floor space is lost to ramps etc.

If you managed to separate the levels and block holes then would be ok for 6 then and door panels seem quite big but it might be hard work trying to clean them out through the door holes.

I have a similar cage but only two storey. The ramps will need adapting as the surface of them is not suitable for our beloved gp's and they are quite steep. We were having 2 pigs in ours but they refused to use the ramps and 2 pigs in one level is just too small.

if you type the details of the cage in to google you will be able to see other people's views on this cage that have already got it.

Hope this helps
