According to the Swiss law 7 guinea pigs would be allowed , which I think is a bit much.
But it all depends on different things like age, character or whatever they get Floortime or not.

i was thinking at least 4 maybe 5? I'm on a fb group and there telling me that it would be 2 small for 5 sows? my dilema is i have 9 sows and a castrated boar and a bonded pair of boars and i need to switch them to hutches.

This is what our Cage Size Guide says:

3 guinea pigs: 2x5 ft (150x60 cm) or 10 ft square = 2x4 C&C grid cage; strongly recommended for 2 guinea pigs
4 guinea pigs 2x6 ft (180x60 cm) or 12 ft square = 2x5 C&C grid cage, recommended for 2 boars or 3 sows or 1 neutered boar/2 sows
Add 2 square feet (60x30cm) for any additional guinea pig.

So four rather than three could fit

i agree with you 7 dose sound way to much tbh x

Too small for 5. I have a hutch the same size and have 4 in it (3 sows and a neutered boar) personally I would rather just have 3 in there because it doesn't look much space and the weather isn't nice enough for a lot of the year for them to go out in the run

Thankyou :) I guess I could get 5 in there as planned as there’s 12+square foot on each level ? I could always section off the levels so there’s 3 per level ? Not sure if that would work?

Agree with all the above 4 but I think 3 for a little more space for them. Always best to have more space per pig ratio :))

The hutch has 12 square feet on each floor. Together it is 24 square feet, and 24 divided by 4 is 6. (Guinea pigs need about 4 square feet each. A lone piggy would need 7.5)

Six sows could live in the hutch.

But are the cabinets included in the space? If they aren’t, six sows wouldnt work.

Thankyou for your help everyone not long after this post I went and paid a deposit for a custom built hutch 3 hutches at 7ft long and 2ft wide Should be deliverd by the 17th of this month :D

There will be 5piggies in top hutch and 5in middle and 2 bonded boars on the bottom hutch :)

Sorry only just spotted this post but it is incorrect. When working out cage size it's based on one storey only and additional floors do not count. Do the above advice of 3 pigs is correct. The hutch is too small for 6 sows.
