If i had a 2x3 grid with a 2x1 grid second storey , how many piggies would you recommend I keep in here, I THINK its just over 11 sq feet?
Thanks,
Jess.

HI thanks for the link :))
Well my two sows are due to move in together in a week, and I have them each in a 100cm cage, which I know won't be big enough for two.
I love the thought of C&C cages, but have limited space :(

a 2x3 C&C is only 4cm longer than their current 100cm cages - so you really wouldn't be giving them anymore space than they currently have....

minimum cage size for 2 is 4ft x 2ft (120cm x 60cm)

Zooplus do a 120cm cage for just under £40 (you get fee delivery and 10%off):

Ive used this cage in the past for two pigs (male and female pairing) and i know the rspca have passed this as being suitable for two!

Failing that have you got space for a 4x2 C&C - it's only 1 extra grid?

I have been doing some measuring and it would be 114cm by 76cm, which is a shame its under 120 :(
i have been keeping my eye on this cage! :)) especially as it is on offer!
Thanks so much for your help and advice.

2x3 C&C is the minimum size for 2 sows (if they get along). It's 7.5 sq.ft. A recommended size would be 2x4 C&C which is 10.5 sq.ft.

C&C grids are not the same size as ft. Each grid is 14 inches.

2 x 3 grids = 104.1 cm x 68.6 cm (3.4ft x 2.2ft)

The recommended minimum size for 2 pigs is 120cm x 60cm (4ft x 2ft)

3 x 3 or 4 x 2 grids offers the same square footage per pig so would be perfect for 2 pigs

A 3x3 is bigger than a 2x4.
3x3 = 9 square grids
2x4 = 8 square grids

Each grid is 14 inches (35.56 cm.)

Skelly, if its 114 by 76 might that be ok? Sure 114 is under the recommended 120cm, but 76 is over the recommended 60cm.

Sorry that was meant to read: a 3 x 3 or 4 x 2 will offer the recommended space per pig and so both would be perfect for 2 pigs:)

Not sure where the square footage part came in (my mathematical mind working overtime - was calculating and typing)

You learn something new everyday :)) - i always thought it took 12 square grids to make a 4x2 and 12 square grids to make a 3x3 :red the overall square footage between the two would make the 3x3 bigger than a 4x2 - but the amount of grids used to make the actual cages i always thought were exactly the same.....

at 35.5cm per grid a 3x2 C&C only measures 106.5cm x 71cm. Maybe by using the grid connectors instead of cable ties you could add a few more cm's to the total length.

Whatever you do - I'm sure your piggies will love it :))

you do use 12 grids to make a 3x3 and 12 to make a 4x2.

but square foot the 3x3 is bigger by 1 :)

Blimey lol now I wish I had passed maths rolleyes I have a pack of C & C from B & Q, was thinking 5 grids along the bottom, then three on other side (rather than rectangle shape) then above the 3 an upper storey of 3 again (making 11 cubes overall) how many square feet would that make?

Thanks lol :))

you dont mean a 3x5 bottom level do you? i cant picture what your trying to say lol i cant work it out to be 11 grids.

Yes a 3 cube by 5 cube bottom level, to fit into my (rounded) bay window) then above the bit where it is x 3 to put a hay loft or extra bit so they had an extra room above (so really 3 cubes above the other 3 cubes) it would fit really well, was hoping the 3 across the top end & 5 across the bottom (from above would look like a cut off pyramid lol) would equal as much space as a 2 x 4 cage ?

Don't think I am explaining this very well lol :)
