How many piggies could happily live...

in a 17ft x 3.5ft aviary with a few hutches and shelters inside? Obviously if I took on loads of pigs I'd think of vet bills etc but just wondering how many could live comfortably in a home that size?

As it is an aviary, are there or have there been birds kept there? I would not use it if there birds are present - Psitticosis/ornithosis would be the main reason. A long and deep disinfection if it has been used previously - removal of all litter first.

Although it can be passed to humans, it's fairly uncommon but as it's passed on in the faeces of birds it's much more likely to infect piggies living on the aviary floor.

thank you. No it hasn't been built yet and if we did go ahead with the idea it would be used for piggies only. xx

Where would you house them in bad weather and at night?

Yes, would it be an "indoor" avary, (my neighbour had an indoor one, and one exposed to the eliments) I think the later would be unsuitable in winter.

I imagine you could get a fairly large herd in there. I'm not sure how big the spaces some of the herds on here are kept in. Maybe they can tell you more.
