How Many Hides?

Hi! I am no professional but I just thought that I would reply and tell you that I have one, It is a log type thing that they love to chew on. They also have am igloo but I do not use it due to the fact of how bulky it is. I have noticed that they are a lot more confident with only one hide rather than two.
Hope this helps!

Guinea pigs are prey animals and need hideys to feel secure. For two guinea pigs you should have 2+ hides, I usually have 2 or 3 wooden hideys, and then 3 different comfy beds/ tunnels. Having one for each guinea will also make it so they dont fight over a hidey, and feel better when they are scared. I doubt your guinea pigs confidence comes from having a lack of hideys, but rather from getting comfortable around you because of time.

I have 4 hideys for 2 guinea pigs in a cage

Another note— especially for guinea pigs that aren’t fully bonded, be sure each hide has two entrances! That way if there’s a scuffle in a hide the “victim” can escape safely. Even with bonded piggies this is recommended, though, as, just like if you lived with a full-time roommate, sometimes arguments happen.

But, as others have said, at least two hides is recommended so each can have their own safe space if they so wish :)
