How many guinea pigs do you think would be okay in a 120 ferplast indoor cage?

Also can you introduce two more guinea pigs (sows) from a pair to another bonded pair sucessfully?

The reason I ask is I have seen two guinea pigs at a rescue I want to adopt and I am also getting two sows mid august

please help thanks

You can house two guinea pigs that cage (it is the same as 2x4 ft, the minimum requrement for 2 guinea pigs). For four sows you need a minimum of 2x6 ft ground floor space. You can either construct a C&C cage or connect two traditional cages by a short drainage tube piece inserted into the sides of the cage if introductions are successful.

You can try to introduce two bonded pairs of girls. Please be aware that there will be a tussle between the two dominant sows unless there is a notable difference in age/size and dominance is going to be pretty clear right from the beginning. Some tightly bonded pairs may not be all that happy about having intruders.

If you use 'hotsavings' code on zooplus.co.uk you can get another (:o) 120 cage for a price of £27.99.

Not sure if that helps or creates more complications.

You might prefer to go the c&c route so you can house them all together...rolleyes
