How Many Guinea Pigs Can Fit?

Hello!

I just got a 13.2 square foot cage for my Guinea Pig, so I was wondering, how many would be able to fit in a cage as large as that? (:

It's 4 feet lengthwise, and 3.3 feet widthwise. It's also 2.1 feet tall (takes up almost half my room!)

(I'm still setting it up in the pic, and Queenie is nibbling on some hay (: )

Hi, I've read on here that a 4ft by 2ft hutch is an ok size for two piggies so I'm guessing two maybe three but that would be all.

According to the minimum recommendations of RSPCA ( or Humane society in the US), you can fit in 3-4 sows (or 2-3 sows with one neutered boar). It would be good if you allowed more space for young guinea pigs.

Or you could have two unneutered boars that will have plenty of space to get away from each other with a chance of a see-though divider in case you get two subadults who have a fall-out.

Sadly, the only good rescue in your state has not so long ago closed down.

I would recommened two sows or two boars. I wouldn't house more than two guinea pigs because guinea pigs love lots of space to run and exercise. 3 guinea pigs wouldn't be good because they would be cramped unhappy and maybe start fighting. Maybe for one night 2 piggies would be okay. My cage is 145cm long and I find it too small for my 2 female pigs by the time I have put a food and water bowl, 2 small hidey holes and a tiny tube there is hardly any room for the piggies.If you want happier, healthier piggies and you want to do the best for your piggies then only put 2 piggies in that cage.

I'd reccomend just two piggies. Once all the stuff is in the cage as well as two piggies you realise theres not really much room.

Where you saying my piggie is cute? Thanks for liking me! Poppy is my golden agouti and she lives with Maisy. She was born on the 1st March 2014 and is very feisty.
