I want to build a 5x2 cage in top of my 5ft double hutch as I'm running out of floor space. How many would I need approx and where is the best place to buy them and the plastic tray lining thing xD I'm not great with DIY.

The C&C will be bigger than your hutch so it can't fit on top unless you add a plywood to support it.
2x5 C&C is about 28x70 inches (without connectors)
Each grid is 14 inches.

It will only be slightly larger so I can work something out to support it. It's better than it being too small for them :p

Maybe you could try putting a grid base on the C&C just so it fits on without falling off ?

I used grids to make the bottom of mine, it makes the cage more stable:

I assume the hutch is indoors though? :)

You could make a board & rest the grids on, it won't matter if it overhangs a little bit. I made my cage up using grids underneath as well for strength, then sat it on two coffee tables, it overhangs by about 4-5 inches either side but it is very stable:

You would need 24 grids to make a 5 x 2 with a base. :)

That was interesting. My cage will now get a bottom ;)

Where do I get the stuff? Like the wires and those round things that hold it together, oh and the grids? I'm actually lost but really want to do this hehe

Your cage looks awesome! Would you like to come and make mine :))

LOL! Well it's made up of B & Q grids & Screwfix grids when they were selling them, sadly they don't now. The mesh ones are better for little piggies as they can't get their heads trapped in the squares. I do wish it was all the same though. I am thinking of re-designing it & making it bigger as it is the minimum size for three piggies, but mine get floor time too :)

It suits them to have their own corners which I couldn't do with a rectangle, as 2 of the three don't get on all the time :(
