Hey guys,

Does anybody know how many 120cm cages a 60l bag of carefresh would fill up?

Just curious as to which bedding to go on while waiting for Fitch to be back in stock...

Thanks in advance! x

I once bought a 60l bag of Carefresh, when I was searching for the "perfect" bedding and was surprised by how small it was. (Granted, the stuff is compressed) I didn't buy it again, as I didn't feel it was very good value. I'd be surprised if it would do even 2 cages, but it depends how generous you want to be with it. Now I get big sacks (although also 60l, I think), of some straw based pellets (called Porta Pellis) from Zooplus, just a sprinkling over the newspaper-lined bases of two 140cm cages, topped up with hay, and they last a long time. I hope you can find something while you're waiting for your Fitch - I must admit, that's a type of bedding I have never tried!

Thanks Katherine,

It's such a pain when you find a bedding that works really well for you and is cost affective and then you have to find something else!

I have 4 cages which i clean every 5-7 days so it's quite expensive but i just can't keep up with the laundry with fleece and working.

I'll have a look on zooplus on what you suggested, i put hay in some areas of the cage as well when i use fitch so I'll have a look at what you mentioned.

1 or 2 cages id take a guess at. I have used an entire bag in a hamster cage before! :-) hopefully fitch is back in stock soon as I want a bale shortly.

I always found Carefresh didn't go very far considering what the packet says. I've changed to Back 2 Nature as it seems to give my stinky boys maximum absorbancy with minimal smell and lasts for a good 5 days at least between changes. It's not very comfy underfoot/paw but I use it under my vet bed. The boys still wriggle under the vet bed and it never causes them any problems.

MerryPip finacard do a litter practically the same as back 2 nature that might be worth a look at if you ever cant get back 2 nature or the price goes up its called papelit :-) currently they're near enough the same price I think x

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm checking out all the above mentioned hopefully i can find something that works out for me! :tu:

Would you recommend putting hay/shredded papper on top so it's more comfy for them?

I think using something on top is a good idea, hay, fleece, paper or something
