Wiggy and ted have been together now since Thursday and things are great between them. But wiggy still rumble struts and does his low purr sounds. Not all the time but regularly.
How long will it continue for do you think?
Thanks.

Well, I don't know about keeping boars, but I have four sows (kept in two pairs), and from time to time one of each pair rumblestrutts and purrs around her friend. It's all perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about.
From the things you have said, and the pictures you've posted, your two piggies look very happy and contented with each other.

A number of years ago we brought home two young sows to live with an older one, and although they all got on fine right from the beginning, I suppose I would say it took about a week for them all to be settled down, and for the older, dominant one to have got used to them being there. Perhaps after Ted has been with Wiggy for a few more days, there may be less rumblestrutting, but don't expect it to cease totally. Hope this is some help!

Hi blade! I'm glad you got a boarfriend for your pig. unless there is aggression being shown i wouldnt worry My pair of boars Rocky (4years) Ozzie (2 years) have been together quite a while and even now they rumble or face off boars just do because theyre silly. mallethead unless one is being bullied or it escalates i wouldnt worry. its like a group of lads swaggering about they theing they look domininant everyone else thinks its being silly. Oh btw your currently violating the piggie code that all now pairings must have their picture posted for us all to oogle ;)

I'm so happy they are getting along!
I really wouldn't worry about the rumble strutting. My two have been together since they were babies and they still grumble and have little tiffs daily! Piggy politics can be a bit confusing but they are just reaffirming their dominance. I think wiggy might have gotten used to being on his own and just wants a little 'me time' (don't we all?).

The hierarchy sort out upon introduction can last up to two weeks, but rumblestrutting and mild mounting are pretty much normal everyday behaviour. Think of it as constant reaffirmation of their bond.
