How long for baytril to work

Hi,

One of my guinea pig had a URI and was on baytril and it cleared quickly.

Unfortunately he has passed it to one of the girls and she is making the same sound now. She is on baytril but isn’t eating. I’ve been doing critical care every 2 hours which is becoming a struggle.

How long until she starts to feel better? My first guinea pig cleared up almost overnight but she just seems the same and it’s been 2 days now.

Any antibiotic can also have a negative impact on the digestive 'good' bacteria in the microbiome in some more sensitive piggies. Baytril is by far the most prescribed and best known for this effect although it generally affects only a minority. Unfortunately, this effect will last until and even after the course of baytril. In a few affected piggies it can have unfortunately a lasting effect.

If your antibiotic is knocking the appetite completely, please contact the clinic tomorrow and try to speak to the vet.
