How long after bonding can you travel with piggies?

Hi all,
This is still theoretical at this time, but I live about 6-7 hours away from the LA guinea pig rescue. It's really the only rescue I know of anywhere near me (and possibly in the US) that will bond piggies to adopt out. If I take a solo piggy there to find a friend, how long would they need to stay together there until I could travel with them? Would i put them into 2 separate travel carriers and restart bond when we got home, or into 1 larger one if their intro goes ok?
Thanks in advance.

If they are together for just a few hours or less then they will not be far enough into the process - they will have gone through acceptance and not much more - and this means that they should travel back in two separate carriers.
Once home you will need to put them back on neutral territory for several more hours (could be overnight) to allow them to get back to bonding and getting through the early stages . Once you are happy they are ok together then you can move them to their cage. What you don’t want is to rush the stage before moving them to their cage.
It will then take the following two weeks for them to fully establish.

In a residential bonding (which I am assuming this isn’t what you will be doing?), your piggy goes to stay at the rescue centre for often up to a week. In this scenario the piggies will be far enough in and should be fine to travel back on the same carrier.
