If I was to bond my single boars who are almost 2 with another boar each of either the same age or older than 2, how likely are they to fall out later in life? Really need to know honest answers as I don't have the space for an extra 2 cages. Thanks

I'm afraid no one can say yes it will be fine or no it won't just depends on the boys. Certainly dating them at a rescue will give them the best chance, also if possible older boys once bonded don't have the hormones to go through so more chance they won't fallout. It cam however be difficult to find the best match. I know you don't want to get your boys neutered but in my experience boy/girl pairings are very stable.

I've never owned boars so don't have any experience with them, but if you know an experienced vet then having them neutered is an option. I don't know much about risks though. But then you could find a piggy wife for each of them? It's always an option but i'd wait for some more experienced replies :)

*Whoops didn't see flintstones reply when I commented!

It depends on how the companions are chosen and bonded. Generally, fall-outs between two hormonally settled adult boars are as rare as between sows. The crucial point is to find a character compatible companion and to ideally bond them before you bring any new piggies home, as by far not all boars will get on with every other boar (btw, the same goes for sows, too!).
Dating at a good rescue offers you the opportunity to let your boy choose who he is happy with and is therefore worth travelling quite a distance. The risk of failed bondings and later fall-outs is the higher the less say and choice you give boars during the bonding process.

If you bond an adult boar with a youngster, there is always a somewhat higher risk of problems when the youngster hits the teenage hormones, but again, if they are dated, the risk reduces significantly.

If you go good rescue, you also have got the rescue to help you if you run into trouble at some point.

Thank you everyone. @Wiebke are you able to put an approximate percentage on how likely they are that they will live together nicely forever? I would definitely be looking to adopt boars that are past their hormonal stage. I am looking to get them bonded at the potteries rescue. I know rescues say that pigs can be brought back if there are any problems but I couldn't personally do that as I believe once you get an animal, you give it their forever home. I just don't want to end up with 4 single boars in 4 cages because I haven't got the space and obviously it's not ideal for the piggies to be living on their own

My guinea pigs fell out when they where is a small cage but when i got a larger cage they became friends again.

If it were in my house it would be highly likeLy! my best buddy boars fell out after a year, as for Roddy and red, well that didn't last long at all. I think it just depends on getting a good match. Best of luck whatever you do :-)

Oh no @Galaxy&nibbles I really don't know what to do  I know the best option would be to get my boys neutered and paired with girls but the thought of the op scares the life out of me. I would like to think they were happy enough living side by side with regular supervised floor time and cuddles in our bed but I know deep down that they could be happier with a cage mate :( I just don't know what to do for the best because there's no way I could have 4 separate cages if they fell out. Such a tough decision with pros and cons for every option

MY boys all live side but side and are quite happy :-) Roddy and red get floor time and cuddles together however Galaxy and nibbles can't.

Also @Galaxy&nibbles the boars you've had fallen out where they dated at a rescue and how old where they please?

Galaxy and nibbles had been together since the were babies, red was supposedly from a rescue and dated (but really wasn't) and well, roddys just doesn't like other piggies! Apart from red they are all around 2-2 and 1/2, but we're about 1 and 1/2 when they fell out :-(
Hope that makes sense!
