i know our overseas friends must think we are wimps with our 25c heat. brits are never happy, in the winter i'd have snapped your hand off for this, now my thighs are sticking to the chair and it is too hot to sleep, ironic that 3 weeks ago still had winter duvet on.
Not having piggies anymore we haven't been keeping the house as cool. Just wondering what people are doing to cool down.... Or are you loving the British weather at moment?

I personally prefer this weather to winter, I hate winter. We’re keeping the blind down in the piggies room and bringing them in to the living room which is nice and cool as it doesn’t get the sun when it gets too warm in their room. If it gets really hot, we’ll be bringing the fan down from the loft but haven’t felt the need to just yet

I dislike winter especially with fuel being so bloody expensive. But would like a little break in the heat

The piggies have ice pods and iced bottles to keep them cool.
We’re keeping the blinds closed and in the evening the air conditioner is switched on in our bedroom so it’s comfortable to sleep.
My husband loves sitting out in the garden, I hide indoors.
Lots of water chilling in the fridge.

As I age I feel less able to tolerate heat! I still remember roasting myself with Factor 2 Hawaiian Tropic. Now I’m rushing around trying to keep the horse cool and sound on the hard ground whilst keeping piggies comfortable with ice packs and fans! I love the blue skies of summer though ☀️

I do prefer warm weather. Luckily the house stays pretty cool downstairs. But by bedtime upstairs is like a sauna! The piggies have been having an umbrella over their hutch. Surprisingly it manages to stay pretty cool. I don’t know if it’s the insulation. They did also have frozen water bottles and tiles.

It’s supposed to rain over the coming days/week I think.

During the hottest part of the day I've been keeping to the north side of the house downstairs which stays reasonably cool. I do love the heat normally but this week has been a tiny bit too hot for even me. The piggies live in the north facing living room and have been okay. Ice bottles are in the freezer just in case but have not been needed. We've only got a tiny bit of grass left that's not scorched so the forecast rain on Sunday will be welcome!

Pepper and Pebble are in the garage. So I open the door first thing in the morning until it starts heating up, then I cover the door with a sheet until 7pm when it starts to get cool again. I hate hot weather though.

The girls only get sunshine till mid morning and we shut the curtains in the lounge for Hector and Kiki, they don’t seem at all bothered. Otherwise if we are home they go outside in their runs with a uva canopy over runs

Lovely to see you back @sport_billy !
My teenage piggy boar Dantyboo who is waiting for his neutering op has invented the best keeping cool tip ever this week: deciding that the frozen water bottle in a sock is his new girlfriend :)
That certainly cools the cockles, so much so that he has begun to grow his winter coat!

I’m keeping water in the fridge for me & the piggies. And in the evening I treat myself to a foot soak in cold water in my good old fashioned foot bath. Cold water on the wrists and ankles really helps cool you down.

I like summer because I like the light evenings and the brightness and the way the world comes into colour but I cannot stand the heat 🔥. Really anything above 20°c I start to melt. It makes all my autism symptoms worse especially sensory issues which is not fun at all. I have panic attacks because I feel like I can't breath especially when it's this humid. When it's really bad all my skin starts to tingle and sting and I feel like I'm on fire. Work have been amazing giving me a temporary class transfer to the only classroom with air conditioning and everyone has really looked out for me but it's not been easy. The noise and the feeling of air on my skin from fans makes the sensory issues worse so my only defence against it is carrying a spray bottle of cold water around with me everywhere I go.

The piggies are coping well. As long as the blinds are closed I’m managing to keep their room cool. They get some fresh air through open windows overnight, everything closed in the day
Our dog has a cool jacket, cool mat and only walks early morning/late evening
The horses are stabled during the day away from sun and flies, regularly cold showered and out over night

Similar to Claire, I still much prefer it to winter!

I love the sound of the cool jacket. I’m tempted to buy an adult cooling mat to put in my own bed bed as it gets so warm at night.

I like the heat, but not the humidity. I'm fin ding it difficult to keep the piggie room cool.used all the tips in the guide.so will be pleased when it's not 34 degrees centigrade ,it was so hot in Maidstone.
It's cooler tonight.

I'm finding the hot weather difficult at home and at work working in housekeeping where the rooms have no air conditioning.I slept in the garden on my sunlounger the other night cos it was too hot in my room but woke up at half 4 in the morning feeling chilly lol.The pigs haven't coped too badly luckily but they do seem to appreciate the fan. When it was extra hot last year I found using a hand towel and wetting it with cold water and wringing it out and then putting it around my neck really helped cool me down.

Coming from the Philippines, I'm supposed to be used to this kind of weather. But living in the UK for almost 12 yrs made me a "softie". 🤣 Although we do have aircon to use in our house in the Philippines so I have always survived the heat and humidity there. Mind you, our house here in the UK is always at 20C during the winter too, so I'm not really used to winter too. 😂

Around 7/8 yrs ago, hubby bought a portable aircon because our guinea pig that time, Bunny, was struggling during the heatwave that time. Being a teddy, she had more hair than Meemee and Deedee. The electric fans we had that time wasn't enough for her. So them being spoiled piggies, hubby decided to spoil them more. 😂

Now every time we have a heatwave, the piggies allow us to share their portable aircon because they thought they couldn't let their slaves suffer and not be able to feed them. 😁 Best investment ever to be honest. 👍👍

A few years ago when I was suffering at night (menopause!) I had one of those cool mats, it was brilliant. I should have kept it, don't know where it went.

They are fantastic! I submerge Koda’s in water and it keeps him cool for approx 4 hours as the water evaporates.

The cool mats are great too 😊
I think there is such thing as cool pillows for us human species?

Luckily, my piggies are staying cool as they stay in the coolest part of the house and it doesn't heat up too fast (which is a nightmare in winter but excellent in this hot weather!). Not sure if being that bit further up north in Scotland is helping too. Hope everyone and their piggies are staying comfortable in the heat.

I have the window open all day for vaping, 100% don't recommend. But if I close the window I'd have to go outside to vape and, let's be honest, that's even worse. I was using a fan for some basic airflow if nothing else but the PC copes with the heat worse than I do...so now the fan's blowing on the tower instead. The goblins refuse to do anything that involves staying cool and I've given up arguing with them. Goblins gonna goblin.

I'm melting. Can it be April again? I liked April. April's weather was sensible.
