Not sure if posted n right place but it's gorgeous day out there today. My piggies are in the garden at the mo. The run is shaded and they've got water, but they dont seem to have discovered it. I'm just wondering if it's too hot for them? Never happy are we?! I'm giving cucumber to hydrate but as they are indoor piggies, ironically it's cooler indoors today!

i would not say its too hot today cause we do get hotter days during the summer months (honest). but you are doing the right thing making sure they have some shade xx. They will find the water if they really need it so dont worry too much xx

As long as they have shade they will be fine at ground level in this weather. If you put your hand on the grass you eill find it quite cool. If they are thirsty they will go looking for water.

Even in the tremendously hot summers of a few tears ago the piggies were generally fine on the lawn. I used a cheap sun umbrella to double shade the run. It's indoors in south facing rooms or in a shed that can get very hot in the summer.

As long as you keep a shed/ hutch, indoors cage or a run shaded during hot weather, the piggies will generally be fine. They should not be in temperatures over 30 degrees for any length of time.

You can feed more watery things during hot weather like cucumber or melon.

In really hot weather a large frozen waterbottle wrapped in a towel can also bring relief, as can soaked beach towels. The evaporating water will cool down the surrounding air a little bit.

Today in the south east temperatures have topped 25 degrees, my piggies have been out in their run for a few hours.

I use an old sun parasol material to put over thier run to shade it, also provide fresh water and they have been fine, as it got cooler this afternoon I found two of them snuggled up in one of thier cozies asleep:))
